God created everything and His word is true. That pretty much gives him the right to say how things should be. Also, since He is soveriegn, He has the right to do what He sees fit and doesn't need our approval, opinion, or understanding.

Why, then, do people automatically assume that God is a jerk? Do they think He shouldn't have that right? Do they not like the thought that they have to live up to a certain standard?

I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk, but I am a little curious why people have a problem with this.

Thanks!

Um, you're terribly arrogant to assume that your "God" is THE "God" and therefore, undeniably true. You crack me up. And, in case you haven't noticed, your "God" doesn't really do anything. But his minions, and by that I mean, cult members and brain washed dummies, they will do anything and say anything to make everyone think they are right. And to what point and purpose? Give me a break. Get over it. One day, your fairy tale will be exposed and we will all live in peace and harmony without conflicting organized religions. Just think how wonderful life woult be if we all agreed on something. Honestly, I'm NOT TRYING TO BE A JERK. I'm just a little curious why people think there is a mythological place such as heaven with an all powerful being that controls everything, but we have no evidence to show he has done a darn thing. Boggles the mind, really. Have a nice day.

This question is pointless. First of all, you start it by saying that God created everything and His word is true. Which is pointless, because you're talking to non-believers. We don't believe!
Besides which, this is just another variation of the, "You just don't want to believe because you want to keep sinning." BS. In order to be the supreme deity, and fit even the Bible's mold of who He is, God would have to be perfect. And all of these human qualities (I especially love the, "He's God so he gets to choose how everything is," as if God is supposed to be a 9 year old emperor or something) don't fit into that at all. Even if God (the one you speak of) existed, he could not have accomplished everything you claim he has accomlished if he were so imperfect. So... logic wins again. Sorry.

There are people who finds it hard to follow a good way to live because for some it is boring, unexciting, tasteless and restraining. Those who cannot follow creates an argument to hide his failures and insecurities. No one can deny that some things that are wrong to do are the ones that give pleasure, amusement and freedom.
There are many sweet things in life that gives out diabetec condition even in the spiritual side of our nature. Those sweet thing sometimes lead to death and as we all know some bitter tasting herbs can cure the ailment.

Some people, don't like any authority, they had trouble in school, they have trouble at home, and they have trouble on their job, they can't cope with the military, and as for God, they go to a lot of trouble, blotting Him out of their life by disclaiming His existence to the point that they actually don't believe. They are afraid to believe.

And where exactly is this god you claim? Even if you believe the bible nobody has seen or heard from him/she/it in over 2,000 years. If anything that is being negligent in his godly duties and his powers should be taken away. Personally I know such a creature has never existed so there never has been any authority granted.

I don't believe that, even assuming that an entity created something, that they have the right to do with their creation what they want. Sure possibly if the entity knew what was better, but I find that hard to believe, when innocent children are killed or die under horrible circumstances. Why do mean people live on in pleasure and cruelness, while kids that are innocent die in plane crashes and long grueling painful diseases.

heres the truth.
maybe we dont believe in god. maybe your religion is wrong.

accually i find no proof of your god. and i USED TO BE christian.

i accually find more proof in wicca and i follow that religion better than i ever followed christ.
why? because its NOT true (as you said above.) for everyone. america is great. you can choose the right to accept deny or pick another god. thats what makes this world great. Not God.

Why do people like you have a problem with people who don't believe what you believe? Why do people like you always have to shove their religion & their god down everyone else's throat? Why are people like you intent on trying to get everyone else to see the way you see?

You ask people why they have a problem with "God's authority" because you are "just curious" ..... but you are not simply asking why people have a problem with it...... You are explaining your belief on what god created & that his word is "true" according to you..... & you are basically asking why people have a problem believing what you believe.

You love god..... great, we get it! We don't need to hear you telling us why we should believe the same things you believe. Everyone is capable of making their own decisions! If you believe in god you know that god gave us all free will to choose our own way.... Stop pushing your beliefs on everyone else who doesn't feel the same way about your god as you do.

in the beginning Rome was founded as a senate and the ruler was elected. Thus he needs the peoples approval to rule, and can't become a dictator. Because like mussolini and hitler, the people can revolt, as they inevitably do.

We were created as free will agents. God wants our unconditional love and obedience. He could have created beings that loved and worshipped him without obedience, but how valuable would that kind of love be? Jesus said, Many are called, but few are chosen. We must have the strength and courage to accept Him in our hearts and the will to obey. Not all people will. Sounds as if you have.
