Disgusting.
Just because a dog looks like a pit bull doesn't mean it should be put down. I'm sure there are even pure bred pit bulls out there who have lovely temeraments. If a dog is bred and is abused and whatever, or course it's going to be agressive. I think you could train a bloody poodle to be that agressive if it was trated bad enough. It should be the owners put down, not the dogs.

I did not see it so tell us what it was about.

It is absolutely ridiculous that an entire breed is being banned because of irresponsible owners. BSL does not work because those that would keep vicious/aggressive dogs will not follow the law anyway so the only ones that suffer are the responsible law abiding owners and their dogs. It is scary that some places are going along with it because it puts all breeds of dog in jeopardy of being put on the dangerous dog list.
I just hope people wake up and see what is happening before it is too late.

Unfortunately I do see a need for a dangerous dog law. It is apparent that some people do not go far enough in making sure there animal will not hurt anyone, including there own family. And most of the people who own dogs like that know there dog is like that.It would not take that much more for them to protect those around them.
I have 4 dogs and If any one of them were bad tempered I most certainly make sure the public was safe. For them,my dog and myself.

Well, i believe that the only way it could work is if the public work together with the police and if a member of the public gets proof of a dog acting dangerously then the police should go round and remove the dog. permanently.

I agree all dogs can be great if trained right.

My friends parents had a pitbull when I was a little kid(they were still legal back then)and she was a great dog who loved to play with us kids.

I think all breed specific legislation is nonsense.

If we spent more time dealing with the perpatrators of animal abuse and bad breeding, we wouldn't have these problems.

Also, it's been proven that people who mis treat animals are like 300 times more likely to be criminals and commit violent crimes against people, which is cause enough to have stricter laws enforcing animal welfare.

I am still watching the programme and it is very disturbing, There is room for improvement and I've just heard that the authorities are to look at the matter again, stating that there is some room for improvement.

No dog is born mean. They become mean when they are treated poorly. They become scared of humans so they attack to 'protect' themselves. Of all the dog reported dangerous i bet 90% of them were treated poorly. I mean just watch animal cops.

I agree, why tar every dog in that catagory with the same brush??? It's murder. As my boyfriend rightly calls it a witch hunt. How would they like it if we started culling babies, hoodies, pensioners... It's the same thing. Just as bad as what Adolf Hitler did in my mind, innocents dying for nothing. xxx

Dunno, didn't watch it, watching C5 about killer bees, but personally, any dog can be vicious and I just think the owners of 'banned' breeds of dogs are just turning to other potentially vicious breeds and (mis) treating them accordingly
