and yes, by funky I mean squishy...and I know that happens to all frozen fish.. I am not dumb...but I was wondering if there was a way to defrost it withOUT that happening...

Yes, if it's been frozen in good packaging and hasn't been frozen too long.

What do you mean by funky? Squishy? That's just what happens to frozen fish.

I always defrost in the refrigerator for 24 hours..or in a hurry in the micrwave on defrost until just soft.

Its best to let it thaw in fridge for 24-48 hrs then cook immediately. But if your in a hurry, put in the sink with COLD water. If you thaw stuff in water ALWAYS use COLD water

Salmon is best left to thaw naturally. Don't force it by using a microwave. You can thaw it quickly in hot water. Sorry, but that's it...

It's best to buy it fresh, but if it's good it should thaw just fine if you let it sit over night.
