This makes a very simple, but nice BBQ chicken.
Throw into a large bowl a teaspoon of dried mustard powder, a couple of tablespoons worth of ketchup and add to it a splash of apple juice and a spoon of dark sugar and some seasoning if you like. Mix this together.
Next rub this all over the chicken, put the chicken in the bowl, cover and leave in the fridge for a couple of hours (or longer)
All you have to do now is roast the chicken in a fairly hot oven (about 20 mins per lb +10-20 mins extra)
Keep an eye on it at about half way as you may need to cover with foil.
It really is as simple as that.

The simplest way of BBQ with chicken that I know of is start your BBQ grill and get ready to put meat on. Place chicken on grill and cook till done then put your favorite bbq sauce on each peace and put lid back on for about 5 minutes and then take lid off and put bbq sauce on other side of chicken and cook 5 minutes longer and eat. We always use Maull's BBQ Sauce. No mixing No stirring. All you need is a brush and a Bowl to pour it in because you can't get the brush in the nape of the bottle. Hope this helps.

Buy skin-on chicken pieces (I prefer thighs) from the grocery store. Then go to the condiments section (ketchup, etc) and pick a marinade sauce that sounds good.
At home, wash the chicken, trim any bad parts (I check for bad bones, excess fat, etc), then throw them in a bowl and pour the marinade over the top. Save some marinade, but you won't need much extra. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. An hour is better.
Then on your grill, put the pieces on a hot grill, rotating periodically. Figure they'll cook for about 40 minutes or so. You don't want them undercooked or you can get sick. (Been there, done that, you don't want to do it!)
When you first put the pieces on the grill, you can brush some of the marinade sauce from the bowl onto the chicken. But once they start cooking, don't add any more of this marinade -- as it's been in contact with uncooked chicken. Instead, you can add more sauce over them as they're cooking from the supply you kept aside. But whatever you don't, don't continue to use the stuff in the bowl or the brush you were using. Get a clean brush.
Or don't even worry about that part. Just toss them on the grill and flip periodically. They'll be good.

Here is a simple and excellent way of preparing chicken for BQ, clean the chicken, no matter it's breast, legs or wings. Add salt, white pepper, fresh smashed garlic or garlic powder, then add some, (not too many) soya sauce which you can find in the supper and that's all! Enjoy the Yummy chicken!

Skin the chicken (the skin is just fat and grease) and grill it over hot coals. Let it cook for about five minutes on a side until it's white and dry, then start slathering it with BBQ sauce every five minutes, turning it over with every application of the sauce. Cook it this way until you like the way it looks. I cook my chicken breasts for almost an hour, giving them a nice, crispy, blackened crust that's mmmmm, mmmm good! Combine it with steak fries, corn on the cob, garden salad, baked beans and a good microbrew beer, and you've got dinner! You can call me whatever you want, but don't never cal me late for dinner...

I usually just BBQ chicken breast. If they are skin-on/bone-in I boil them first in some seasoned water. After I pat them dry, rub a bit of olive oil and garlic salt on them and put them on the grill. I continually baste them with our favorite BBQ sauce.
