I already took the asvab test a month ago the only thing that keeps me moving on is the court order that my recruiter telling me that i have to get stating that i dont have custody of my son. DETAILS....i'm a legal immigrant, my son is in the Philippines right now with his mom. We never got married, we parted ways when he is still 2 yrs old....now he's 6. The thing is do i still need to get that court order even though his staying with his mom?

I would say that yes you do (I don't have kids myself but have nearly 9 years in the military, so I know how things work). Just because he is not staying with you doesn't mean anything. You will have to show them something proving that she has custody of your son.

You would need something stating that you do not have custody of the child. But more then likely even if you do not have custody. You can enlist in the Army as a single parent. However, you are required to have custody paperwork filed in case you should be deployed so there is someone to look after your child while you are away. In a nutshell, if you are a single parent and are in the military..you must complete the paperwork giving custody of your child to someone incase you are ever deployed and so that they can care for your child as tehir legal guardian.
But if you have no custody of this kid...you still need to prove that to your recruiter via a court order or some other legal document.

yes. you will need a document stating that have no custody whatsoever of your child. Otherwise, the Navy considers you a single parent and are therefore ineligible to enlist.
