Yes. Although opiates aren't that prevalent any more (except in Afghanistan).

Religion is just like a crutch of drugs or alcohol. Its a way to make you feel better. Even though you could stand on your own two feet, this crutch, like drugs, offers a false sense of security and well being.

Dispite what you may think of Marx's political SOLUTIONS, he was often right-on when pointing out true politcal PROBLEMS.

Religion, to me, is a negative influence on the youth of today and can be compared to brain washing. I was raised a christian in the Church of Christ. Yet if you compare the over 2500 different christian beliefs you will find a variety of answers to the same questions. A personal belief is about 90% the belief of your parents or another adult influence. If I were raised as a Buddhist then that's what I would be and no matter how much you tried to teach me about Jesus I would not accept it. We are all a victim of religious teachings as we are raised to believe. I have become an agnostic because I studied too much. If that doesn't make sense then let me explain briefly. The is a scripture which states ''much study is weariness to the soul.'' The meaning of this is simple. With much study you are bound to figure out that there are those you love which worship and believe differently than you AND their belief may be their downfall as you would undoubtedly come to the conclusion that you had the right answers and they did not. Eventually with a lot of study there will come a time when the question you have can not be easily answered. That's where the brain washing takes place. Older more mature men and women will explain it the way it was explained to them years ago. Naturally you will accept their answers as you respect them for their pious nature and intelligence. Even a wrong answer can seem right if the person telling you the answer believes it with all their heart.

Take a long look at what religion has accomplished over the years. Brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, families in general are divided because of varying beliefs. Wars and rumors of wars have been waged all in the name of religion. Suicides have been many all for a belief. Bombings have been done for a religious belief. Manslaughter and worse attrosities have been contributed to religious beliefs. Men and women, boys and girls, are living a life of guilt and confussion all for the sake of their belief. Husbands and wives have divorced their spouces for a religious belief.

I am not saying religion in itself is wrong or even bad, but the concepts and ideas which religion brings can be disatrous. Worship God as you see fit but do not allow the blind to lead the blind. Have a little common sense when it comes to what you choose to believe. Ask many questions, do not just accept doctrines simply because grandpa or momma said that's the right thing to do.

Religion can be an ''opium'' when it comes to the over bearing religious leaders of the world spewing out self appointed and self centered ideas which are not based on sound fundimental teachings. Just say no to the drug. Say yes to those things which can be of great help and importance, such as, ''Do not kill'' - ''Do not steal'' - ''Do not lie or bear false witness''. These ideas are fundimental to you in religion as well as society.

My opinions are just that, my opinion. Do not accept these either unless they are backed by undeniable truths, which I believe they are.

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world,
& the soul of soulless conditions.
It is the opium of the people."

NOWAY MAN!!!!

I AM the most religious person I know, and I am NOT HIGH!

Jesus is the way the truth the light, no man cometh unto the father except through his name, meaning the name of Jesus, if any sheep comes through the door of the house and does not place his blood on the lentil he will be anathema and

Hold on... I need another hit of Bible... I mean... Just a little... I mean, well just HOLD ON!!!

YeeeEeeAAaAhhHHhh! That's more like it! Praise you most wonderful ju-heeeee-zuz! Dang Jesus is good, but we're not supposed to call him good because jesus said that there is none good but the father and later, thought he said that he annd the father are one, but discrepancies like that do not affect me because I am high on Jesus and believe in him because he makes me high I would sell my own kids for jesus like abraham did or was about to but wait that was killing wasn't it? Hey, i suppose that if god askedme to kill my baby so that i could maintain my jesus high, i wouldn't think twice I mean look at those muslims who bomb people and blow up international buildings for their mohammmad/allah high a high is a powerful thing and worth anny price do you see what i mean but it's not exactly an opiate it's more like a cocaine or is that the same thing? I don't really know because intelligence isn't necessary to be a Christian, just faith so take your satanic reason, logic and evidence somewhere else and leaveme to my jesus high... what? yes, i'm going to keep telling people about Jesus do you think i want to hog all this jesus high to myself? you're craxy. craxy i said.

compare what Karl Marx replaced religion with. hardly something better.

it seems that Karl Marx was also condemning anyone who used anything to get rid of something that they couldnt handle on their own.
if communism is the answer to get rid of religion.. then he condemns communism.. along with pharmiceuticals, street drugs, food, candy -choclate, cleaning agents, divorce, calgon, aroma therapy, chiropractice, etc.

I suppose it is, in a way. Whichever one you follow (I'm a Christian) I think it it enables you to ride the storms of life. But don't "take it" for that reason; it should encourage you to lead a good life.
