knowing me I'd probably get drafted, go, then get court marshalled and a dishonorable discharge a week later for abusing female iranian prisoners and bending them to my will.

There will be no war with Iran.
Iran is imploding currently. The economy is horrific, people have no jobs, and they are currently importing gasoline, while sitting on 20% of the worlds oil, because their infrastructure is destroyed.
War is the only chance the Irani powers can stay in power. By turning attention away from the awful system internally, and fomenting national pride, they can keep control. The US knows this, and would never be baited into a war that would help the Irani leadership.
They only have to sit back and wait for the next revolution.

I cannot be drafter because I am retired military.
However if the Democrats have their way - military morale will collapse and we will not be able to fight Iran.
I take it that nobody has considered the effect that pulling out of Iraq will have on the military. It will take a generation before the military trusts the American people again.

In order to have a draft and increase troop strenth we would have to bring troops back from Iraq to train the new troops.
The "Surge" is the most shortsighted blunder since Reichsmarshall Rumsfeld decided guarding Iraqi Ammunition Depots was a waste of manpower.

I mean after college I wanted to join the USCG. But if a draft I guess I would have to go with Plan B, and go to become an officer in the Marines. An then USCG if I can after.

The United States could collapse the Iranian regime with highly mobile forces, combined with naval, air, spec ops, and intelligence assets.
The key to it would be not staying after-wards, think of it as a "raid". Expeditionary maneuver warfare, without the stability operations after wards.
8-10 weeks of high intensity combat with the intent of stopping: the nuclear program, state aid and support to Hezbollah and hamas, and letting the Iranian people, not the ayatollahs govern themselves.....

I'd love to. i would have already joined but they wont let me(I'm not old enough)and anyone who didn't want to go should have to live under the rule of one of those dictators and know what those people in those countries have to go through. and personally I'd love to go and give them the freedoms that we take for granted.

There is no way this country will regress to a conscript military.
