Well..it seems that our cat of 9 years may be affected. His name is Leo,and he has shown signs of vomitting, not eating,he has lost a pound in a week, and his blood tests revealed a 1.5 times higher rate of (i even forget)..in his kidneys. We feed him dry Iams, and wet fancy feast...however as a treat i purchased some "wet" cans of Iams in jan and feb..now he is showing these symptoms. The tough thing is there is no way the vet says they can detect the poison in tests...just the fact they can detect some renal failure.
Also, who hangs on to their old tins or pouches of cat food?...of course they are long gone,so i have now no way of finding out through the posted serial numbers. The Vet said it sounds"probable" that Leo has been affected . He is at home with us with some subcutaneous electrolytes given to him..and we will monitor him. Leo is like a child to us,so yeah it is kind of tough

Unfortunatly, many people pets were affected. However, Menu is only claiming 16 animals were harmed. While vets across the county are treating animals with accute kidney failure, which is a rarity. I'm sure once this is all said and done... the numbers will be outrageous.
It's a tragedy, but hopefully an eyeopen to those who have pets. Hopefully it will change the petfood industry as a whole. Organic and holistic foods made in thier own plants by smaller companys are already flying off the shelves since right now... they are just about the only safe wet foods out there.

Because over 8000 animals have died and a lot more than that are sick. It's all of the major brands that are contaminated, and it's starting that they're recalling treats as well. People are rethinking if we should trust companies that don't test their food when they tell us it's edible. My cat has almost died from the same thing as the others - but this brand hasn't been recalled yet! (Science diet dry food, btw. only their canned food was recalled) On top of that, there is media about smoking, and knowledge about it. Pet food was just assumed to be ok, and now we're questioning that. The outcry over the chemicals in tobacco has already passed. Everyone who smokes these days knows the junk that's in it. That's the big deal. They still is reform being done with smoking anyway. For instance, no more smoking in public buildings. I definetly wouldn't compare tobacco and pet food like this. The circumstances between the two are totally different at the moment. They certainly shouldn't have the same ingrediants!

No Thank Goodness!
Does creep me out though that they are finding rat poison in the food. There were some good brand names in the recall.
Scary stuff!

No, because i give my cat dry food. sometimes as a treat i would buy him canned food but not for a really long time, thank god! he seems to be fine but is going to the vet on Monday.
i feel so bad for all the people and their pets that have been affected by this stupid incident. And i hope the company that did this gets in big trouble.

No i don't think they whold do something like that that would effect they're brand name and even if there is such thing i think they would get sued and they would already close down . To make sure just buy food from local stores which are on the streets not on some dark alley :)

I think a lot more pets was affected than what they will ever tell us because if they admit to it that means they can be liable for the damage done. Even though our furry friends are not replaceable.
