We are considering installing solar power. Has anyone done this? Does it work?
There are so many companies out there; can anyone recommend a reputable one?
We are in the Essex area, thanks.

For hot water, you can use Thermomax (Wales). The best captors in my opinion.
For electricity, solar panels are still expensive, but can be bought from Germany (+/-£300 for 80W). Not too good in UK, unless you set them up on a solar tracker. All in all, a very expensive business!.
The other option is wind power if you live in a windy place.
Cheaper, but complex to set-up.

At the present time, it is unlikely that you will save any money! It will produce very little power, and will in the long run, or in the short run, not save you any money. But hey, if you want to reduce your 'carbon footprint' then go ahead!
