i think that my PS2 is broken. the reason that i think this is because everything seems to be plugged correctly and everything but when i turn it on, nothing happens.

it's not the game, either, because i've used different games. it's also not the TV because I've tried different TVs.

what can i do to fix it? is there anything that i can do without taking it to a repair shop or buying a new one?

My husband had that problem once, it needs to be cleaned on the inside, so I'm sorry to say but uinless u know someone who can do it for you, then u would be better off taking it to a repair shop. We knew a computer tech that worked on PS2's in his spare time, well pretty much every game system. But the design of the PS2 traps a lot of dust in them & u would be surprised how much it affects the way the games play. But that should help a lot. Hope I helped u out

I think mine's on the blink because on occasion, I have similar problems - however, I can pretty much tell that the motor is starting to wear down, because there's a distinct whirring sound when I play certain games.

Unfortunately, you may need to have an expert look at it.

If it powers on and does not play you may just have a dusty laser lens (have you been cleaning it?). Try cleaning the lens with canned air or with one of those cleaning discs if you can get it to play. If it does not power on at all I recommend a PS3!
