"But when federal immigration agents raided a local plant and took away 361 illegal workers, Frank didn't get up and give the speech about illegals doing work Americans won't do.

You don't say that in New Bedford, a depressed factory and fishing town with a magnificent work ethic and an unemployment rate of 9.4 percent, the highest in Massachusetts. (The day of the raid, the copper company founded by Paul Revere in 1801 added to the misery by announcing plans to leave town.)

For the city's beaten-up working class, factory jobs are diamonds. After the raid, 400 people immediately applied for the openings.

Frank blasted the Defense Department for awarding more than $100 million in contracts to Michael Bianco Inc., which, it appears, was flagrantly employing illegal workers to sew military backpacks and other gear. Frank also quoted a Michael Bianco competitor who called him after the raid, saying, "Now I understand how they kept outbidding me."

What do you think?

Business leaders are trying to find new ways to break up skilled high paying jobs into low paying immigrant jobs. Even office workers, bankers accountants and other professional occupations are being chipped away through out sourcing. A corporation is simply a machine to make money. It will find the cheapest way to make the most without conscience. President Washington said business will be conducted in America at the pleasure of the people. Today regulation and regard for workers has been stripped away, ceo's are grabbing money at the expense of the middle class.

The problem is you are asking the wrong question to the wrong people. Immigrants (legal) have the right to work wherever the chose. It's not up to employer to decide that illegals work for less and are easier to control, it;s against the law to hire an illegal and if fined or jailed the employer, soon the problem of illegal immigration would be deduced. As for the illigal being happy to be here, you once again are asking the wrong question to the wrong person. Ask the American tax payer if we want to pay the bills for that worker that is working for penny on the dollar. If he is hurt in the fields, who pays his hospital bill. When his wife gives birth ( on the average illegal immigrates have about 6 kids ) who's pays the bill for her anchor baby. After the baby is born and is in rolled in SIS due to the income level of the illegals, who pays. When these anchor babies and their sibling arriving daily from Mexico's who pays the bills. Surly not the illegals, remember they are working for pennies on the dollar. The American tax payer is the answer to employer that want cheap labor, and illegals what want to start a new life at the expense of the American tax payer

The owner should be arrested and made to hire the legal workers that applied. He was doing OK with the lower paid illegal workers who cant demand better working conditions and higher wages. His punishment should be that he is forced to stay in business with the city running it while he serves his prison time for violating the federal felony law against hiring illegal aliens. And any profits made ,used to pay back the people of Bedford for taking the legal Americans jobs and giving them to illegal aliens.
Hes a disgrace to this nation.

Hey don't leave out Teddy! They would rather see legitimate Americans out of work and keep even cheaper labor forces, making Americans homeless and destitute living one pay check from disaster...They would rather outsource jobs than give Americans a break! JFk is probably rolling over in his grave! A pox on them all!... What about that General Pelosi, Teddy and Mr Franks?

Hundreds of real Americans rushed down there to apply for jobs after the illegal aliens were carted off to detention. I guess the boss won't be able to fine the Americans $20 for using too much toilet paper or $20 for talking like he did the illegals.

Sure have ventured beyond agriculture where they keep inferring we need them , right to jobs Americans have always done and obviously are more than willing to do and have a right to have. It still always boils down to cheap labor and companies who want to bend the rules and want people they know they manipulate.

While these big business owners are raking in billions....why can't they pay employees better on the global market instead of dragging us down to a 3rd world level?

Personally Bianco should be arrested and the head of the Defense Department should step down. 'Nuff said.

I guess now the illegals will have to come up with better reasons excuses to stay in this country illegally.

What I think is funny, is that illegal aliens really think that we made up jobs, kind of over night, just to give them work. Then they ask, whos going to do those jobs when we are gone ? My answer is, the same hard working Americans that did those job before.
