I was standing on my rooftop in Brooklyn when the World Trade Center towers crumbled. I remember saying over and over "oh my god oh my god oh my god."

I think I'm STILL in shock.

Had to be 9/11. I was waked by a call from a friend and told to turn on TV. The first plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. It looked like a terrible aviation accident. While we were watching and crying, in living color, the second plane struck the building. I screamed the name "Osama bin Laden"!! My girlfriend seemed confused as I told her this had to be the latest of his terrorism tactics. To be able to watch in real time, the infamous act occur, was more than shocking. It was absolutely devastating. The realization of what was in store for our great Country, here on our own doorstep, was driven home in a way that shocks my whole being to this very day.

There are several - when I was little, the first thing was the murder of JFK. I think after that it was probably Diana's death and then 9/11. The picture of JFK's car going along in black and white will never leave me, nor the pictures of the aeroplanes hitting the towers. There is also the Ethiopian famine - the first time I think people realised there really were starving millions out there and how privileged we are....

I will never forget the news coverage of when the twin towers were hit.I will never forget seeing those planes intentionally fly into those beautiful buildings. And remembering the people who were jumping from top story windows because they were trapped. And I will always mourn and grieve the loss of lives from that horrific event.

But I will also celebrate the heroes who went into those buildings and never came out as well as the heroes that survived.I will celebrate the search and resue dogs who cut their paws searching for any sign of life or just searching for those lost.I will always celebrate the unity that horrific even brought about not just here in the U.s but in other countries.I will never forget that for once the world mourned as a whole. And I will celebrate that as well.

Blessed Be,
M.G

It's got to be the attacks on September 11th. No-one had ever seen anything like this happen and terrorist attacks usually kill no more than a few hundred not 3000+. I went to the supermarket after work that day and it was so quiet with people huddled in groups whispering; it was weird. God bless all the victims.

On Tuesday Sept. 11 I was working in a prison and the entire place stopped. TV's where turned on that aren't supposed to be and the inmates where silent that day. If you've ever seen a prison show it's usually VERY loud. It was nice to see they where as effected as the rest of us. Some even cried when they announced children had been inside.
