Have you ever actually read the bible? There's some pretty stupid, mean, sad and horrible stuff in there. Which is why I'm not a Christian. The bible says a lot of things are sins. So I say stuff the bible. If you're gay and you want to be a Christian, why not? It's your life and you can do what you want with it. Don't let the bible push you around!
But as well as that other girl in this list, I'm curious too... Are you gay?

A sin is a sin. There aren't any Christians that don't sin or that live lifestyles that the Bible apparantly preaches against. What about male and female couples that live together before marriage? Or a divorced person that gets remarried? Should they not be allowed to call themselves Christian either? If you have lustful thoughts on a regular basis, does that mean you aren't Christian? It seems silly to me for anyone to try to make such a judgement.

Since God, speaking through the inspired prophets authoring the books of the bible, declared homosexuality a sin, then it is a sin. See: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10; 1 Timothy 1:10.
Thus, homosexuality is just one of a litany of the degradations of the perfect moral state found in original creation.
As all sinners, homosexuals can be true Christians. On the scale of the depravity of sin, homosexuality is no greater than other sins. It is just that homosexuality is often practiced openly ("in your face"), so the reaction by some is over the top. It may also be the case that anyone that seems to revel in their sin seems disingenuous if they are a self-professed Christian. I believe that the true Christian homosexual struggles daily with their sinful nature. And when we all do some personal inventories of our own sinful natures, I am sure we are found wanting.
Here are two resources regarding homosexuality and the bible to clear up any misunderstandings you are having:

Happiness to Christians is more than the needs of the flesh. Continue to pray for strength to resist your urges and strive to be obedient to the scriptures.

Yes you can...
What most Christians fail to remember is the fact that according to the Bible, "all sins are equal in the eyes of the lord" So the next time you see someone preaching that homosexuality is a sin, make sure that you point out that fact and see where they stand. Gays and lesbians have just as much right to be a christian, and just as much chance of being saved as anyone else who accepts Christianity...
I'm really not a bible beater, but I see the hypocrisy and I feel for anyone who's asking themselves this question.

Good question. I think that its a matter of social norms, many things that were taboo in earlier times are normal in today's world., and many things taboo today were being done earlier. On a deeper note, even if the bible considers being gay a sin, it doesnt prohibit sinners from being Christian. Murders or kidnappers are not prevented from worshipping the Lord or following christianity (as far as I know as Im not a christian myself) gay people are a thousand times better than that. They should be allowed. Even if the bible considers it a sin, Christianity being about forgiveness and love for fellow humans will certainly not restrict.

YES. You can be gay and Christian. For pity's sake child. Homosexuality is not even in the TOP 10! It's barely mentioned in the bible. Where as disobedience, lying and adultery is mentioned over and over and over again. Idol worship as well. Money is an idol. How many Christians do you know who are greedy?
Look to your own sin. As Jesus himself says - look to the plank in one's own eye before looking for the speck of dust in one's brother's.
In picking on gay people one is disobeying God. That's a bigger sin.

Sure. God shouldn't discriminate. I personally think homosexuality comes when people are born- their hormone balance is off, I've known many people who didn't choose to be gay, they just were. Besides how cruel of God to punish people who loved him, worshiped him, lived good lives, went to church- all because they were born differently.
What about people who are born with both male and female organs? Are they automatically going to hell because no matter what gender they are attracted to, it's partially the same gender as them?
I was raised christian and I choose to believe that the God I was taught about in church is a just God and a fair God and doesn't punish people for decisions and feelings they can't control.

That's like asking if you have to be without sin to be a Christian... There is no prerequisite that says if you are gay you are disqualified... The problem will arise though if after becoming a Christian and learning that it is sinful behavior that you continue to engage, or refute that it is a sin and thus do not repent... This is why most homosexuals choose to be agnostic or atheist... Hope that helps...

Sure. Not all Christians agree on everything. There are Methodists and Catholics and Protestants and Baptists and Pentacostals and Lutherens. Who is to say there can't be a sect of Christianity which accepts homosexuality?
It seems to me that a Christian is first and foremost a believer in Jesus Christ. Exactly WHAT you believe with respect to Jesus varies with all these different Christian sects so a homosexual Christian is just a different sect like Episcopalians or Quakers.

The bible says a lot of things. Once you get away from the literlist crap, then of course. Christianity is accepting Jesus, period. Being gay doesn't hinder that. Of course getting away from literalist churches might be easier said than done. That insane idea has caught on in a scary way.
