I have had two years of Koine Greek (biblical), and honestly I can't remember much of it. If you are talking 'modern' Greek, I would suggest looking online to get the alphabet and learn them first (and the pronunciation), then get the Rossettastone Program (about $300, but worth it). I am taking the Rossetta Stone Hebrew right now ... helps a bunch.

Are you trying to learn conversational Greek or koine (Biblical) Greek? Well enough to talk or simply read what is written? I studied koine Greek for 9 weeks (equivalent to a full year college course) and learned 90% of the words that appear at least 5 times in the New Testament, but it would take longer to learn enough Greek to carry on conversations.

the very frequent error greeks make often is by translating "good morning" to kalimera, whereas it means "good day", for mera=day.
good morning=kalo proi.
anyway, since you are of greek origin and providing you study every day, within 4 months you will be able to hold friendly conversations; maybe sooner, according to your speed of grasping greek!!!!
