I have not read the book but I will tell you this, when I was a kid, (I am 42 now)we were not allowed in the house during the day time or after school, as long as our home work was done. We went out and played all day , baseball, street hockey, football in one day and when we were done we would make up new games IE: kill the guy with the ball etc,When my father told me to mow the lawn, he said it once, when he said get up and shovel the drive way, you moved your butt. Now I work in occupational therapy and a lot of my case load is in the school system. I have asked many, if not all of my patients who are depressed or who have difficulty with learning or low muscle tone what they do after school, the first answer I get is nothing, after some proding they usually say get on the computer or watch TV. I will probably look at this book but with all do respect I think I already know what the problem is.

I haven't read the book but I'm starting to think there's more to this childhood obesity problem. Have you ever watch "Honey, We're Killing The Kids" most of the parents don't even realize what their eating is bad.
At least in America we at least acknowledge this childhood obesity problem. In China their childhood obesity problem is just about to surpass America's and no one seems to acknowledge it.

I haven't read the book but, I have friends who have over weight kids and they are the ones who don't take the time to cook supper so they take the kids out to eat (McDonald's etc) every night!! One friend has even talked to me b/c she's worried about her daughter but, says she doesn't have time to cook. We work at the same place and I have one more child than her. People just make excuses and it's really sad.
