Most lines were down at 4220 clayton Rd. Bldg. #2. I live in apmt 2-216. The vans were here on Monday and I'm still not receiving any dial tone. The police came over Thursday night to have a friend check I was O.K. they also said my phone were hooked up right since I'm able tto write e-mail and use the internet. I have many limitations and would like this problem worked on as soon as posible.Thank you for helping me with this problem.

If your phone is next to you computer, and the phone is plugged into the computer modem, it may help to swap the phone and line connections on the modem in the computer. most modems will work either way, but a few have to have the wire that pluse into the phone jack connected to the line jack on the modem, and the phone plugged into the phone jack on the modem.
other problems could be a faulty phone cord, a faulty phone, or a faulty modem.

so In order of most likely to least likely,

Bad phone cord.
wires swapped at modem
bad phone,
bad modem.

If you are on the internet with that phone line, log off before making a phone call, that should give you your dial tone....
