de-worming as in dogs? If for dogs, then thats when these little things can get into a dog`s heart and eat it... if you get the animal de-wormed, you get all of those worms taken out.

Sometimes people eat food infected/infested with eggs of parasitic worms, e.g. pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata), roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides) & many many others.
Regular de-worming removes any of these worms which may have found it's way into the body.
The worms cause a lot of intestinal disturbances & may be life-threatening.
