Can I freeze double cream that has been whipped for a short amount of time.I have ran out of ice cream and was hoping this could be an alternative.

yup...i used to freeze it in blobs (which is a very specific quantity) on greaseproof then drop the frozen blobs in a bag until needed...iy you want it to be more like ice cream, stir it every so often while it freezes to stop crystals from forming...enjoy

You can make ice cream this way. Add a little plain milk to it (for a reason having to do with the butterfat, but I have forgotten exactly what), sweeten it if you wish and you have Cream Ice Cream .... it is really good .... then you could take it up a level and put in vanilla or some brandy or mix in some strawberry puree ... or crush up some chocolate toffee candy and mix it in .... etc.... or coffee....

Plain cream without a custard base is one of the ways to make ice cream. The other way, using a custard base, is called French Ice Cream.

sure you can freeze your cream it will not be like ice cream ,but you can still use it as double cream just let it defrost an then whip it again .

yes you can freeze it but it wont have the same affect as ice cream though,but it will be nice

yes for sure you can, look at all the frozen cream cakes in the supermarket, I have frozen cream lots of times
