I lived in connecticut all my life, My daughter who is almost 3 has also lived there all her life. Since moving out here both of us have been "sick", coughing, nasal dripping(sorry about being gross). It seems like allergies but neither of us have allergies. Could it be the move? Could we have developed allergies? When I took us to the doctors they said it will pass and not to worry about it.

you changed environments completely and what you are experiencing is very common for people who relocate from different climates. Treat your symptoms as your doctor has reccommended and follow up with him if your symptoms dont pass after about 6 months to a year. this is a common lenght of time it takes your system to adjust to your new environment.

The first two sources below are for cough related...the third is a page to select the topic desired on the topic of allergies.

I am surprised that you were not prescribed anti-allergen medication such as Singulair.

It may be in your best interest to make an appointment to speak with an allergist instead of a pediatrician or physician.

Children do not readily carry tissues and often have to be cleaned up by an adult. It is uncomfortable to have the chaffing that occurs with a runny nose. I hope you are able to get well soon or get relief from the symptoms of allergnes.

Welcome to California! I have lived in California all my life but always along the coast. I never had allergies until I move inland and now live in an area with hills and weeds. What I use for me and my 7 year old son is Hyland Brands Hayfever tablets. They are all natural, non-addictive, do not make you drowsy, and very safe for children. (My son was on a steroid nose spray which causes bloody nose and upper respiratory infections, etc.). You can purchase them at most vitamin shops or you can order them online by going to Hyland Brands. They cost about $6.95 for 100 tabs. For adults you use 2-3 tabs under the tongue to dissolve. For children you use 1/2 the adult dose. I give my son 2 tabs. Use them every 4 hours as needed. They are wonderful!

Good Luck!

You have to get used to your new environment.
