well my advice to you it all depends on the enviornment that you have them in ? Parakeets dont like to be alone and like to have flying room at night cover em up but not completly ! i love my birds and so far we have been great !be sure if you dont already have them out side to take them out to get some air not out of their cage or nothing like that but take the cage outside so they can have a bit of fun!

The exact thing happened to me. Last week my 9 year old male parakeet died and left behind a 1 year old girlfriend. I think it is best to get a friend for a parakeet, I am going to. Parakeets live in flocks in the wild and are overall healthier and happier with other birds around. I would say get another bird for yours. ;)

You are the only person that can answer this question. Do you want another parakeet? Did you have more than one parakeet and the one left behind is lonely? Also consider that one bird left behind may not bond with a new bird in the cage. If you do decide to purchase another bird, I would introduce them to each other slowly. Let them get to know each other and watch how they interact with eachother before putting them together in the same cage. That might require purchasing an additional cage, but better safe than sorry.
Was your bird sick? If so, you'll want to clean the cage carefully before admitting another bird into the same environment.
So, these are decisions you'll have to make yourself, balancing everything out. You'll know what to do when the time comes.

First off how many parakeets do you have ? Where do you keep the cage/cages? There could many reasons for the death, you need to know why first. Don't add any new birds til you know what caused the death. Are all your other birds healthy and behaving normally? Food could be a factor, room temp, proper lighting, I could go on and on but you get the picture.

i'm sorry to take heed to that. that is substantial comprehend why the chook died first till now making a determination to get yet another one. replaced into it previous age? ailment? injury? in case you have already got 'keets, that is clever to invest in a instruction manual which could grant you tips on introducing new birds right into a cage. some birds flow with the aid of long bereavement classes in the event that they lose their cage-chum. solid luck!

If you do decide to get another bird, QUARANTINE the new addition for at least 30 days before allowing them to see each other even once!
This will save you the heartbreak of loosing two birds if one is sick and hiding it.
If you are not sure what it means to quarantine your bird, email me and I will explain it to you.

I had many parakeets and they are great pets. Unfortunatly, they die very quickly and get sick easily, so when one of mine died, i would get a new one. So yes if you would like another one you should get it
Good luck!
