to person who asked why is this in military:

'why not'?

'have the military never killed with an icicle?'

'best place for the question in my opinion'

- why so many hang-ups from some people on yahoo answers about correct place for questions... not very helpful answer anyhow. :(

One of my very best friends. It was winter '93/'94. She was an older person, living alone. The ice had built up on her roof and spouts. She got up on a ladder to try to knock it loose and a huge, pointed icicle pierced her in the chest. The mailman found her on the ground, dead. It was tragic. Yes, this can and does happen.
