I've read that the time from ingestion to the time that caffeine transcends the blood/brain barrier-(and into the brain),takes 4-6 hours on average. It's a mental diversion ,away from the withdrawal,if relief comes much sooner. It's like fooling the brain with gratification of the senses before an actual physical addition is made.

You are a very perceptive young woman. Yes, caffeine is addictive, and the sign of that is a headache upon withdrawal. Diet has caffeine too, I think. Do it gradually, not all at once. Just reduce your soda intake by 1/2 a can a day. Just throw the rest out. Then after a couple of days, try to eliminate the whole can. I just started drinking more water, and eventually I weaned myself off of caffeine. Good luck!

I have tried to stop drinking coffee and drink Horlick instead after being influenced by my wife. Months later I developed a chronic cough and took my doctor 3 months to find out the reason that I am allergy to Horlick. I lost 10 kgs in this transition. Now my wife has no choice to allow me to drink coffee again. I look better and is believeing that I think better.

I have also read a study done by Kevin Warwick in year 2004. According to Kevin Warwick, a cup of coffee may boost your IQ. Kevin Warwick is Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University, UK.

He led a study which found that after a cup of coffee people's IQ went by an average of three points. The effects of the increase in IQ were short-term.

Warwick says that the results had useful implications for business. He presented his findings at the Annual Training Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

My belief is coffee cups can be easily cleaned but tea cups stained. Choice is yours, Tea or Coffee ?

Caffeine is my only vice. I tried to quit once and the headaches were so horrible I couldn't take it. It usually works within 15-30 minutes. And I like plain black coffee to get rid of the headaches the fastest. Best of luck to you.

I'm a big coffee drinker and it takes about 20 minutes for my head to get better.

With the tea, you may need more than one cup, but it should start within minutes.
Have you considered coming off the caff?
