Do new things you haven't done before....it will put you in a different mindset. For eg, get your friends together and go take a weekend trip to a new place, or learn a completely new hobby, or make a change in your hairstyle... or meet new people, or change decor of your home etc. The newness helps in some way. It helps us refresh, so to speak. Plus, stop "dwelling". U think about him....that's another thing, u keep "dwelling" on it....that's a whole other thing. Stop your mind right there n then, when you find yourself ruminating & beating urself up over it. Know when to be tough on yourself.
And know in your heart, that it will take some time. So don't expect immediate changes.
Sometimes what also helps me....is opening my heart, and thinking of him empathetically. Eg. as a human being he also deserves his own happiness & has his own sets of limitations. So let him go. Love is also about letting go.

Unfortunately, there is not quick cure to get over someone that you have loved immensely, but hang in there because the pain you are feeling will go away. The best advice I can give you is to concentrate on your other passions whether it be hobbies, work, family, etc. Also remember that things happen for a reason. First you have to come to the realization that it is over and life goes on. That there is in fact pleanty of others in the sea who can win your heart, but dont rush into things either. I suggest you get rid of pictures, letters, or anything that reminds you of that person too. Good luck!!

For the most part, I agree about the "mama's boy" answer... unless he's under 16 (he doesn't have alot of choice). Over that, if a guy breaks up with a girl because his mom told him to, yeah, he's a mama's boy and she will continue to win even when he's 40! Steer clear!
To get over it, only TIME will do the trick... then LEARN from it, and don't fall into the same pattern next time.
Good luck!

The only way to get over him is with time. Even then you may not fully get over him. You can also try taking your mind off of him by staying busy or even dating again.
