No...there is no truth to that statement. I have wore both glasses and contacts and while they have corrected my vision and helped me to see better, they did not worsen my vision. Your vision will change as you get older, and any number of variables can effect your vision (ex: diabetes), but wearing contacts is not one of them. Go ahead and try them...you'll love wearing them.

Hi there,

I wear contact lenses and no, my vision has not deterioriated any more then if I were to wear glasses. I just find that with my eyes, I am prone to dry eye and so even though I can wear contacts all day, I find by late afternoon I want to give my eyes a break and put the glasses on. Also, some days, especially if I am feeling under the weather, the thought of putting contacts in my eyes is just not happening! if you do decide to go with the contact route, don't throw away your glasses! Aslo, with contacts, they need to be "fitted" properly; some times it may take many different tries with different brands before you find a contact that is comfortable. And by comfortable I mean, you should not be able to tell or notice that you have them in except that you can now see clearly.

Cheers.

Have you ever been diagnosed with Cataracts? If you don't have cataracts, and are interested in correcting your vision you have the option of ICL's. Implantable contact lenses are often used as an alternative to lasik. The lenses are implanted in the eye and work with the eye’s natural lens to improve your vision. I highly advice against lasik, but I guess that's a personal preference of myself and the Ophthalmologist I work for.

No, contacts won't make your vision worse in the long run. In fact, I have much sharper vision with contacts with a complete clear field of view - unlike the blurry parts around the edges of glasses. If you're really concerned, talk to your eye doctor about it too as you will have a different prescription for contacts.

I used to wear glasses and I switched to contacts. Not only are contacts more comfortable and stylish, but they do NOT mess up your vision. My vision is actually getting a little better with every appointment to the eye doctor.

nopes that is not tru..my eyes stablilized after i started wearing contacts (i don't kno if there is any correlation) or it just got a lil worse, which is natural...wear contacts if u cant see all the time so u wont have to constantly put on and take off ur glasses

contact lens do NOT make you vision worse! if it did, there would be a lot of blind former contact lens wearers.

make an appointment with your optometrist
