4 granny smith apples, cored and sliced
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup butter, softened
Put apples in an 8 or 9 inch square baking dish.
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a separate bowl and mix.
Spread crumble mixture over apples and bake for 35 minutes in a 375ºF degree oven.

Grandpa's Apple Crisp (Crumble)
4-6 servings 50 min 10 min prep
4-5 apples, sliced
1/4 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup quick oats
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
Put apples in buttered 9x10 baking dish.
Sprinkle with water.
Make topping: rub together sugar, oats, cinnamon, butter, and flour.
Put topping on apples.
Bake 40 minutes in 350 oven.
Best served with pouring cream.

There are several ways to make an Apple Crumble or Apple Crisp. Some are with crusts, others not. So I will give you just a couple –
Apple Crisp
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
6 cups sliced apples
Salt to taste
Cinnamon to taste
Combine oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, sugar, and butter; blend until
like coarse breadcrumbs. Place apples in a 8 X 13 inch greased pan.
Top with oatmeal mixture; sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. Bake at
350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serves 12. Enjoy!
and –
Apple & Cheddar Cheese Crisp
6 cups of sliced apples
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1/2 cup of corn syrup
1/2 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup of butter
1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
Arrange apples in greased 10 x 6 x 2 baking dish.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and pour lemon juice and corn syrup over them.
Combine the sugar, flour and salt.
Cut in butter until it's "like cornmeal".
Gently mix in cheese.
Sprinkle over the apples.
Bake 350 for 1 hour or until apples are tender.

I make this very simple recipe all the time. It can be made in bulk by doubling up on the ingredients and kept in the fridge for 6 weeks.
1 lb plain flour
1/2 lb margarine
1/2 lb demerara sugar.
Mix flour and margarine and then stir in the sugar.
Cut up apple and sweeten to taste and cover with the crumble mixture.
Cook gas mark 4 for 35 - 45 minutes.

3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/4 c. light brown sugar
1 stick butter
Cinnamon
Peel and slice apples into buttered 9 inch pie plate. Sprinkle with lemon juice and then sugar. In small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar and butter until crumbly. Pour flour mixture over apples and pat into place. Dust with cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Delicious served warm with ice cream.

ingredients
2 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 1/2 cups (packed) golden brown sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup (2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Nonstick vegetable oil spray
4 pounds large Granny Smith apples, peeled, halved, cored, each half cut into 6 slices
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream
preparation
Mix oats, 1 cup sugar, and flour in bowl. Add butter; rub in with fingertips until topping comes together in moist clumps. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover; chill.)
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish with nonstick spray. Mix apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup brown sugar in bowl. Transfer to dish. Sprinkle topping over.
Bake crumble until apples are tender and topping is brown and crisp, about 55 minutes. Cool slightly. Spoon warm crumble into bowls. Serve with ice cream.

Dash ground cinnamon

2/3 largish bramley apples
approx 3-4ozs demerara sugar
a few cloves(optional)
6-8ozs Sr Flour (depending on size of dish)
3-4ozs marg
3-4 ozs demerara sugar
Rub marg into flour and sugar till it resembles bread crumbs. Peel and slice apples and put into dish. Sprinkle sugar on top with cloves (you can add raspberries or some raisins at this stage). Sprinkle the crumble on top and place into the oven at Gas mark 5 Cook for approx 20-25mins until golden brown on top. Lovely!! PS You can add all sorts of things to the crumble to make it tastier and different, like seeds, or porrige oats or chopped nuts. Experiment and enjoy
