Is a hospital required to alert a child protective service if a parent, who by the way was also recently arrested for child abuse and avoided trial by pre-trial diversion/intervention in December, attempted suicide? Clearly this person is very unstable.

Is a hospital required to alert a child protective service if a parent, who by the way was also recently arrested for child abuse and avoided trial by pre-trial diversion/intervention in December (which the hosptial obviously will not know about), attempted suicide? Clearly this person is very unstable. There is a young child in the house as well as older children and step children.

The hospital does not report attempted suicides even if there are young children in the house.

I don't know if the hospital is required to do so but I would certainly find out.
If they aren't and you know this for certain, then I would definetly call them myself so they are aware of the situation.
Better to be safe than sorry later.
Can't understand why these children are still there.

As a person, if you know this you should be reporting this yourself to the authorities and child welfare, they will take it from there!
