You're right, it doesn't add up.
That's because a fiery hell of torment is one of the bigger lies that christendom has foisted on the world.
The Biblical hell is simply the grave ....6 feet under.
No fire, just sleep.

In the premortal existence, Heavenly Father prepared a plan to enable us to become like Him and receive a fulness of joy. The scriptures refer to this plan as "the plan of salvation" (Alma 24:14; Moses 6:62), "the great plan of happiness" (Alma 42:8), "the plan of redemption" (Jacob 6:8; Alma 12:30), and "the plan of mercy" (Alma 42:15). The plan of salvation is the fulness of the gospel. It includes the Creation, the Fall, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and all the laws, ordinances, and doctrines of the gospel. Moral agency, the ability to choose and act for ourselves, is also essential in Heavenly Father's plan. Because of this plan, we can be perfected through the Atonement, receive a fulness of joy, and live forever in the presence of God. Our family relationships can last throughout the eternities.
We can become perfect, we all have the chance or will have the chance at some point to accept or reject the gospel. I believe our Heavenly Father will be as merciful as He can be towards us... I read an interesting thing the other daty (in the book "Jesus The Christ") that said "Justice cannot be dethroned by mercy." That means, as much mercy as the Lord can give, He will, but part of what makes Him God is that He must also obey the laws of justice. A person cannot be asked to do something in return for a reward, not do what they were asked, and then expect the reward... that would not be "just"... And God must be.
Though I do not believe people will burning in a lake of fire for all eternity...think about true suffering - not being with your family, not being with God, not being with Jesus Christ... that would be, to me, the worst suffering. Thank goodness our Heavenly Father has given us a way to retun to live with Him forever, if we will only do what He asks.

Because people are not perfect, they are sinners. Every person. The only sinless person to ever exist was Jesus. He chose to die in your place. God cannot have sin in His presence. He is holy and perfect. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, His sinlessness is imputed to you, which means that in God's eyes, when you go before Him, He no longer sees you sinful. He sees you through the blood of Christ which has the power to cleanse you from all sin. So when you've been saved you become 'justified' (just as if you never sinned.) That is why there is no other way to God except through Jesus.
God did not create imperfect beings. Adam & Eve were created perfect, but given free will (a choice). They chose to disobey God and listen to the serpent. Thereby, sin entered in. It is because of sin and disobedience that people go to hell. Not because wants to send them there. Which is why He already had a plan in place-Jesus-that would make a way for people to have a relationship with Him again. He knew man would sin. He didn't make them sin though.

who is God ? The omnipotent perfection. Humans named it as God. The name is only an identification for understanding. It can be written as Dog and spell ed but the meaning is changed because we had given another meaning to this word.
The creations cannot be as perfect as creator. All the creations together makes it perfect. Each and every creations are perfect in itself.
Then what is Hell? It is the lack self knowledge.when you understand yourself as it is the perfectness there is no sorrow. if there is no sorrow there is no hell.
if so man makes the hell and God didn't made the hell and sufferings.

GOD is perfect. HE gave us the freedom to make the choice of heaven or hell. Redemption is free. The price was paid by JESUS the perfect SON of GOD. Yet there are those who choose not to believe and therefore must suffer the consequences of their choice. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why some people choose not to believe knowing the consequences, as for me I made my choice long ago and have not regretted it once. I am paid up, packed up, looking up and going up one of these days. If you have not yet made your choice I suggest that you choose well, eternity is a long time to spend paying the consequences of a wrong choice.

Just like a perfect carpenter, He throws to garbage bins those excesses that was cut out from a perfact shape of work he did. Do not throw your imperfections to someone who made you to follow His commands. You can only blame yourself for the wrong things that happen to you and the wrong things you did to others. The FREE WILL is useless if you think He is pushing your life to a place you do not want to be. It is your choice or the choice of someone you have no will to stop or change that makes your fate. You create your own destiny.

Will sin go on forever?! Heaven forbid!!! God will put an end to sinning, even the sin of Hell itself! Yes a perfect God will create perfect human beings, with a 'free will' who are NOT robots! They will decide for themselves, just as Adam and Eve did, to choose to obey God or SIN and disobey Him. The history of mankind is the result of their rebellious decision! Death, heartaches, diseases, famines, murders, rapes, robberies, cruelty, and last but not least, . . wars!!
A perfect being, and I want you to think hard on this for a moment, a perfect being of LOVE like God, wouldn't want to be surrounded by emotionless robot servants for ALL of eternity. So He must create, step back, and LET mankind sin, rebel, and through God's never ending grace, redeem them and bring them back through the sacrifice of blood, . . the percious shed blood of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ!!!PTL

Because God gives us free will and He is perfect but when we decide to follow our own needs that is the choice we make now "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD" he is merciful and graceful that he forgives us but when we follow the flesh which of this world, which means that it is persuaded by the devil and his tricks that he gives us over to a reprobate mind he gives us free will and he is soo perfect that even when a person goes to hell He said there he will be also.

God is perfect, humans are flawed
God didn't create imperfect beings, the beings He created made a bad choice (eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge) and therefore all others are imperfect

God is perfect because he continues to make the right decisions.
How do you think he became that way?
People have to have a full knowledge of God to go to hell. That is fully knowing and seeing him then turning your back on his will. Meaning rejecting all good.
There are levels of heaven and levels of hell.
God loves us all and wowuld not send a person that is 50% good to hell. He would continue to school him.

God is perfect but He's also just. He gave us free will to choose to be obedient or not....He created the Lake of Fire for the Devil and his angels...it was never meant for mankind...but because mankind choose to serve or not serve Him they get the same punishment as the Devil and to give less would not be just.
But He did offer a way out. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so we could come before God as a holy people but it does require acceptance of Jesus.
