Is it possible to fall in love with someone you've only e-mailed? He won't be coming home from Iraq for a few months but when he does we'll finally get to meet.

I think you can have great chemistry, but I don't think you can fall in love until you meet in real life. I think online and emails, we tend to more or less fantasize how the other person really is, like we put a personality to their words, when we really don't know how they react to things in real life. It's more of a lust than it is love. Hopefully, when you guys meet it will still be the same person that you like, but I would say keep your expectations normal so you don't get too hurt or disappointed in case it doesn't work out as you imagined it. Good luck!

How can you fall for someone if you've never met them? How do you know if the chemistry is there? I think you can like their personality and get to know them, and that might be a good basis for a relationship, but you'll never know if you're really attracted to them until you meet them. I've emailed a few guys and even been quite good friends with them over email, but face to face - euch! Still happy to email them and be friends with them as they're emails are interesting enough, but my point is that personality *isn't* everything, as some naively imaginative people might think, chemistry has a lot to do with it. You can't get that spontaneous reaction and sense of humour over email - everything is thought out.

Yes I think it is possible seeing as a friend of mine fell in love with someone they instant messaged on the internet. Just be careful that they are really who they claim to be. But the real test is if you still feel the same after meeting them, and hanging out with them in person.

Don't know about love, but you can definitely become infatuated. My aunt and uncle penpalled for several months, and never saw each other except in photos until the day before they were married. They've been married 50 years. There is a man I saw on Personals that I've attempted to contact, but he's not been on in almost a week. Though I'm not "in love", I've definitely become smitten with him!

I think it's possible ... when you truly fall in love, you fall in love with that person, not his or her attractiveness or possessions. If you thik about it, getting to know someone over the computer is actually a great way to get to know the real person, while remaining completely unbiased by looks or other distractions.

Yes it possible. But it's not a good idea... I learned the hard way. ;) It's easy to get along and say the right things all the time when you're just emailing. But it's not realistic. Once you're face to face with that person, it's gonna be different. Good luck.
