I can go out any weekend night during the summer and find one within 30 minutes.

Every Catholic church around here holds a carnival at some point during the summer. They call in the carnies with the temporary rides, then serve beer until everyone's drunk.

I think you are exaggerating a bit.

Many Catholic parishes have annual festivals or carnivals to build community and raise money.

Catholics drink alcohol in moderation just like Jesus and the Jews did in the Bible. Occasionally some over indulge just as in Jesus' time.

Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9)

Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana.

It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage.

Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)

What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner.

If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical teaching onto others.

With love in Christ.

I know what you're talking about! Here in Texas they're called Jamicas (pronounced HA-MYCUZ) and it's a festival with music, booths, dances and yes, lots of beer. It's always held in the parking lots of the churches and it's usually a fundraiser. They also have soccer & softball tournaments. Of course these are churches that are mainly Hispanic but everyone participates. I think it's a big contradiction myself, my hubby's Catholic so he grew up going there. But you're not crazy, I toltally understand what you're talking about :)

Jesus made wine at a marriage. seems human beings have been ingesting and having a solid previous time... Jesus appeared to inspire that. Oh, i assume you in basic terms ripped that area out of your bible... Catholics don't get inebriated at church. The golf equipment and purposes enable for alcohol to be served, yet lots of the human beings there do not drink in any respect. playing... Oh, you will possibly desire to intend the bingo... that's not something like what replaced into happening on the temple while Jesus threw their tables over. examine your bible! They have been funds changers who have been racking up income from damaging pilgrims who have been attempting to grant a Passover sacrifice. The Catholic bingos are a humorous tale... You not often look them. you're plenty extra probable to work out human beings sell raffle tickets. somebody makes a donation of a hazard prize and others purchase tickets. Its purely elevating funds for a charity, and doing it in a fashion it fairly is a little extra relaxing.

It is not uncommon for parishes to hold picnics and carnivals. They serve several purposes, of course they are fund-raisers. In addition they are fun, they help members get to know each other and encourage members to socialize with each other. I know a Greek Orthodox church in the neighborhood has a similar type of carnival. The food is excellent.

How do you know they're Catholic Beer Carnivals? For one thing, I've never heard of beer carnival. Secondly, what makes them Catholic? Are they all on church property?

Unlike many Protestant cults, the Catholics are a fun loving bunch. I use to go down the th KofC Hall all the time to drink beer and shoot pool with the old timers, and I am far from Catholic.

Sorry, but we Cahtolics find NOTHING wrong with drinking alcohol!

Jesus drank WINE, you know....and it was STRONGER than the wine we have now- not weaker.

We do not approve of alcoholism or public drunkenness. At our parish festival, we have security and a drink limit.
