For me, it boils down to one word: "schedule."
As a matter of habit, I read at least one Psalm each and every morning, even on Sundays. I try to contemplate at least one bit of wisdom from that Psalm throughout the day.
After I read my Psalm and decide what to contemplate, I begin my daily prayers. I usually begin with praise and worship, then begin to pray for people whose circumstances are heavy on my heart. I then pray that God will guide me throughout the day and strengthen my faith.
I also make it a habit to pray throughout the day and meditate on some deep concept from the Bible. Apart from my morning Psalm, I read from Scripture every day, usually in the afternoon, but the evening is the best time for in-depth study.
One other thing that's really helped me: I stopped listening to secular music entirely; I now only listen to contemporary Christian music that uplifts my soul and has me praising God with a joyful heart. My clock radio is set to the same station so that's how I wake up, too.
I've found that if I stick to my schedule (with gladness, not out of a sense of obligation), I keep my thoughts focused on God where they should be.

PWC Pray without ceasing
The only way I have found consistancy has been to keep an open line of communication with the Lord .. He sure does nudge me alot if I keep Him Close.
Also have people to help keep you accountable
A good group of people that can gently remind you or ask u questions without you jumpin defense like they are trying to say ur no good cuz u havent.......
-the group is best when it doesnt involve immediatefamily members...

We should not really have a reason why we fail with our devotionals but we do. With the advancement of technology we should not struggle, if we cant read our Bibles we can go online or listen to the radio even TV!!

I'm not as consistent as I would like to mbe. If I could go out to dance in the storms and walk in the light of the full moon, I'd be better.

Staying in His word at least once a day....
Yes...it is a daily struggle. But God is good....and patient...and merciful.
