my attention that Easter is based on a pagan holiday The first born and cherished son of a goddess was killed by a wild bore while playing with his pet rabbit...those who worshipped her were to kill their 1st born and dip an egg in their blood and place on mantel and eat ham to remember her loss on that day...now christians have the easter bunny, "dyed" easter eggs , and the traditional feast w/ham...I am aware of the true easter story of Christ's ressurection but why is it celebrated so widely by christians in a pagan fashion?

Ok, Easter as Christians celebrate it isn't a pagan religion. Back when Christianity was fairly new to the Celtic areas, Christmas and Easter were set up as sort of a "rival" holiday to that of the pagans, which is why we celebrate our holidays on the same day the pagans celebrate theirs. It was set up as a rival holiday in an attempt to bring people to Christ and away from unholy religions.
However, what we celebrate is very real. On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. After all, he grew up to suffer and die for our sins. On Easter, we celebrate the fact that He rose again on the third day, hung around with some folks, then ascended into Heaven. While the dates are the same, what we celebrate is quite different. God bless.

Tough question but one answer doesn't explain why everyone chooses. Why do we have Christian rap when it wasn't meant for the church? Etc. I was a Sunday school teacher and I utilized the egg in easter activities but linked it to Christian values and teachings. I think that God looks at your heart and your intentions. We get too strict in political and place so many restrictions on our faith when all that matters is your heart and relationship with Christ.
