hi, my girlfriend is on vacation, and i am planning on proposing to her the day she returns, but unfortunately i don't know her ring size. i don't want to dish out big bucks, and have to end up returning/exchanging the product. anyone have any suggestions on how i can figure out her ring size, maybe somehow trick her into telling me? it has to be very secretive. btw the only means for me to contact her is through email, aim, or phone.

No one can get it perfect because when woman retain water their fingers swell...
Most men just aim for a higher size and have it fitted. There are alot of places that can size a ring in a few shorts hours inside the malls so you don't have to leave it for weeks.
You don't want to spend all that money and get a too small of asize because you CAN"T size up. She won't care about the size being too big at time of proposal.. all woman know who want to get married know it has to be sized.

Does she have a class ring? Favorite ring she wears all the time? If so, you could bring it up in conversation, complement her on it, ask her where she got it, and slip in the size question.
If not, you could see if she has any rings that she left behind while on vacation or borrow them from her friends/parents. If you could bring the jewelers a ring that you know fits her, then they could probably size it for you and tell you her ring size.

if i was a guy..what i would do is go to a store..buy a cheap stelin silver ring..give it to her..say hey baby..i saw this ring and thought it might be your style..here put it on..if it fits fine..but make sure to tell her to always take it of when she is about to shower..when she gets in the shower take it..and go to the jewler..if she said its missing pretend you know nothing about it..and then you can surpise her with your proposal a week or two later,...
PS..just keep in mind what kind of fingers she has..if she has thin.. chunky.. or whatever..from that you should be able to figure something out

ok this one might be a little costly but its woth it
well what my boyfriend did was to take me to a store that had a bunch of 25 cent ring machines and he told me that he liked a certain one and he wanted to get it and he was going to try to get it just for fun and he got it after 7 times and those are pretty cheap rings so they adjust to your finger from the opening in the back and he gave me the ring and told me to put it on just to see how cheesy it looked so I did and then he asked for it back cuz he said it looked ridiculous adn i deserved a better one then he immediately changed the subject after I gave him the ring back then he said he went to the jewler and the jewler measured it and found out I was a size 6
also my friend (male) offered to have the ring his girlfriends mother gave her, polished and cleaned so it could look prettyer and she did and thats how he found out

Purpose without a ring and take her shopping in the following week! Tell her you cant spend too much but you wanted her to pick it out. She will love it.

If she has other rings : get one of them and find out the size in a shop.
ask her girlfriends
ask her parents, or her sister, if she has any
by the way : you can easily make a ring a little smaller

Go to her house or where ever she lives and find her jewelry box and find her rings it there take one to the jeweler and they will be able to match the size.

Close friends or family is probably your best choice. Or try see if anyone you know has the same size hands and bring them in.
