I have a Pioneer DEH-p4600mp, and i tested the radio in another car and it works perfectly, but I tried to connect it to my car and forgot to disconnect the battery cable. I have checked the radio fuse on the fuse block, and the fuse in the back of the radio both of them are fine. I tested the wires with a voltmeter to see if power was getting through all of the connections it seems i dont have a bad wire so what could be the problem?

You need to check ALL of the fuses in the fuse panel, not just the one labeled as "Radio". The "radio" fuse is just for the ACC (red) wire to the stereo. You need to look for the fuse which connects to the BAT (yellow) wire on the Pioneer. You will usually find it in a couple of different places. Cig Lighter, Dome Light. This supplies constant +12Volts to the stereo, it is not on the same circuit as the "Radio" fuse.

Andrew's answer is the most likely one. There are ALWAYS two fuses in the vehicle that supply power to the radio, and the constant power fuse isn't always labeled as a radio fuse. It may also be hidden in a fuse box under the hood. The constant power fuse is almost always the one that gets blown if you mess something up during an install, because it has voltage on it even if the key is off.

A bad ground is possible, but a blown constant power fuse is more likely.

You know I had a similar problem w/ my pioneer premier DEH- 960mp. But it turned out to be a bad ground. And you know some places dont even disconnect the batter when installing a stereo head unit, and say its not necessary (i.e. Circuit city) I, myself ALWAYS disconnect the battery positive terminal anytime Im working w/ electrical. Check your ground hunn. Also, make sure your wire harness kit is all connected to the right colors. Im not sure what else to say w/out being there.

If you have power going to the radio from both the BATT and ACC wires, but no juice to the unit, the most likely cause is a bad ground, especially since the head unit worked in another vehicle. Try tying the ground to a known good ground (even using a long jumper if necessary), and give it another go.

Do this exactly: Connect your radio as normal, Splice the ground wire.(make a small slit in the plastic). Hook up one end of another piece of wire to the ground wire were you spliced it then touch the other to the - on the battery or a bare piece of metal on your car. If your radio works then you have a bad ground.

Run the main power wire (yellow wire) to the battery. Make sure u put some sort of inline fuse into this wire as a precausion. Then take the accessory wire (red wire) and run that down to the fuse for the radio in the fuse box, and take the ground wire (black wire) and ground it to something metal underneath the dash this should solve your problem
