What is your favorite Word Processing program among today's "Big Three?" MS Word? Word Perfect? or Open Office? (or do you use some other application?) Please indicate here. Also what would you say are the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other? I still use Office 97 because of the high cost of upgrading and it works well on Windows XP. I also updated Word Perfect 12 for emergency situations where I get some advanced document that I can't read in Office 97. Transferring using a cut/copy and past doesn't seem to work too well going from WP 12 back to Office 97, but works great going from Office 97 to WP 12. My hope is that when the time comes for a new computer that WP12, should I choose to use it, will run on Windows Vista, or at least that Office 2007 will be able to read documents saved in WP 12 format. What do you guys think?

Microsoft Word 2003

Primarily it came with my pc system and it was the model I was trained to use on completion of my Microsoft technical help.
I prefer it as:

It is very user friendly
Quick and simple
Very compatible
I know how to "fix" it

I must say the disadvantages are the inability to format, for example positioning of text is always a problems.

Open Office of course is great because you don't have to pay a dime. it too is very easy to use, however is not as compatible with other systems.

As for Word Perfect, never had to use it.

There is no way, the only way to get a word perfect document to a Microsoft Word is to save the first one as an Enriched text document and then when you go to open it on the Microsoft Office, it will convert quickly and easily.

I never got to experience Big Three or Word Perfect, so I can't really say that MS Word is my favorite, but for now, I like MS Word.

MS Word for sure...XP, 2003 or 2007, doesn't matter. Definitely better than anything else out there, and those that don't feel that way, I think they just don't know how much it can really do.

none of the above... if all you are doing is word processing... use abiword... it is free and it loads freaking fast... and it can save as a .doc
