My boyfriend son is moving in with us. We want to change our dining room into a bed room. I don't want it to be permenent, because if we sell the house. Our kitchen is ok in size, but, a family could use the extra space for entertaining. I thought of french doors that lead into the living room. We have a 12 feet opening into the living room. I don't want a wall. maybe partialy bring the walls into a 6 foot or 8 foot opening. What can we do to close this, yet, leave it with a dining room posibility for future owners? The opening into the kitchen is door size. We can put a door up, or something that can be removed later.

Any sugestions. We want to do this as cheap as possible. We are hopefuly moving in the next year.

I really like the idea of French Doors. I think they would look charming as an entry to the dining room. You could put paper over the little windows until he is out of there and it would be private.

it wouldn't be very sound proof but we have used a heavy gauge wire before across the top and then hung either shoer curtains (cheap) or sheets from the wire to create a wall
