The Lord has asked us to give back to him 10% of everything we earn. In return, he promises to open the windows of heaven unto us.

Scriptural Reference - Malachi 3:8-10.

In olden times it was not just 10%, but the best 10% of their flocks, fruits, or whatever they earned.

I can certainly try. All money that we're blessed with belongs to God. It all does, actually. He blesses us with some of it. We're instructed to pull out 10% first thing whenever we're paid. That 10% goes back to God. Witholding that 10% is "like robbing God."
It's a tool of blessing. What I mean is, when we faithfully give back to God the "firstfruits" of our labor, He in turn blesses us multiple times over, whether it be financially or otherwise. Some might call it investing, but I call it being obedient.

The O.T. priests were the judges, doctors, lawyers, etc. They basically were responsible for everything a Gov. does today.

I wish I only had to pay 10% taxes.

Do you think a 10% flat tax with no exemptions would be enough nowadays?

It is a physical fact pointing to a far deeper spiritual meaning. Like all scripture. It isn't just ten percent. That's not spiritual faith, just good business! He wants more than that. It's a relationship.

Its suppose to be 10% of your income but, I think God appreciates any thing you can give as long as it comes from
your heart. If you do not have enough to cover your rent then you can give your time.

Wow. Even though the church remains tax free, they still want 10% of everything you make. They were and will always remain criminals.
