Why dont I believe in God?

Question

I have read the Bible cover to cover, gone to church for a year, prayed every night, but still I cant get myself to believe in God. Why is this?

And Lids, I am not making fun of Christians. I just want to know how to believe because I cant get myself to do it. I am trying. It is people like you that make me just want to give up and stop.

I am sorry for so-called claiming "Christians" like Lids.
It is "Christians" like her that make me not want to call myself one, because it has negative connotations.
I am one though.
Ironically, the thing that gives Christ such a bad reputation with sincere thinking people. Is a lot of self-righteous judgmental Christians themselves.

Christ is love. I can't stand the way some believers treat non believers. All our hearts are desperately wicked and we are all in need of saving grace. We are all sinners. I don't care if one person have known the Lord for 20 years, and another doesn't know him at all. We are all desperately wicked.

Make your own opinions and beliefs in life. I'm not sure what I believe in either because there sure as hell isn't enough proof to anything...but that's what Christians call 'faith'. I'd like to talk to you more about this kinda thing. I just find it interesting too. But what it all comes down to, there has to be something out there.... maybe a God, maybe not...maybe just a dream. I'll tell you one thing tho, if there is a god, I don't think it's the simple-minded christian perspective of him...like some guy just sittin in a chair in the clouds with angels all around him. Naaaah, there's definately something there but no human can ever know what until he or she dies. If you don't believe in a god, go buy a gun and some bullets and shoot urself and see what happens. No don't do that....but it would be interesting to see what happens. But yea, I fell ya. It's hard to believe in a 2000 year old incoherant manuscript which may or may not have been tampered with over time. The bible was originally written in Aramaic, a language that has been dead for a thousand years. When it was translated into english in the King James version (the one most people read) there were actually words that had no english equivalent. I have no clue, maybe there's something to it, maybe it's just a book...or maybe we should all just go with the flow and stop worrying about something that we can never proove or get to the bottom of.

I answered your other question, sorry I sounded a little rough, I didn't mean it at all. Okay, so you read the Bible from cover to cover, gone to church for a year, and prayed every night. Wait. Did you pray to God to open the path of salvation to you and so He can guide you? You can't just do those things you mentioned and not pray about God opening the door for you to believe in Him. Open your heart to him and accept what He's already showing you, sincerely and with faith, and God seeing that you want to serve Him, might open His name to you.

You're not left alone, God created you and predestined your life. And what He planned about you nobody knows only Him. I don't know about your life, but I am pretty sure you had some difficult times, and then all of a sudden, those troubles went away. In the Bible, it says that even birds, plants, are all under His control. He allows the flowers to open in the spring, and has given the bird its song. Even the hair on our head is counted (as said in the New Testament). How could anyone do this? Just think about it.


Also, it might take time to truly believe in Him and don't stop. God is real and He is the only One true God. He hasn't left you, maybe His plan is for you to wait a little longer. I wish you the best.

You do not believe in God because he has not opened your eyes to His glory.
Simple as that.
People are totally depraved and are encapably of anything but sin without God.
What is the best thing you have ever done, it could be giving a homeless family 1,000,000 dollars and if this was done without Jesus Christ it was totally sinful.
If it is not God it is satan. If it is not Holy it is evil. This is a basic fundamental belief of Christianity, there is no middle ground. Jesus was not a wishy washy "oh, well, you 'are' a good person" kind of person/Lord. Jesus was a hell fire and brimstone speaker. If you do not believe it then read his sermons. Does it trouble you that you could have Christian family members watching you from heaven and seeing that you are on a road to hell? If not, then you are not a Christian and will not believe in God. I pray that he opens your eyes and you are one of the elect.

You don't believe in GOD. because you CHOSE not to BELIEVE in Him.

It's all in the mind and it depends on your decision, you can't force a person if he/she doesn't want to believe on it.

But then whether you believe it or not. God truly exists, you alone is the proof of it.

How can you explain the miracle of having a child formed inside a womb by just a union of 2 small cells that can only be seen through a microscope and eventually growing up as YOU: a lively lady almost 6 feet tall, full of emotions and intelligence, rational in everything and now even asking if God exists.

From 2 small cells -- turned to a full grown lady...How can you explain such a miracle if there is no Supreme Creator Who designed & created everything. Not even science can explain how could life start and happen. Scientists could never even disprove that there is no God; devils even believe & tremble that there is God. then who are we humans to deny God's existence.

The fact that humans have an "idea" or has known the word "God" since time immemorial, it only means that God has indeed a place in this world, in our life and even in our brains.

My friend, if you really want to know & feel that God is existing and alive. You can just talk to Him right now and SAY THIS FROM YOUR HEART (sincerely from your heart pls.) ----

"Lord Jesus, if You are really God and is existing, please. prove it to me. Show your power in my life and let me feel your Love right now. Grant me the salvation & the faith that I need in order to believe in You; because you've said that If I seek You, I will find You. If I knock, You will open and if I ask, You will answer... Prove it now my Lord Jesus. Prove it now God. Amen..."

I just hope that you are not asking this question because you just want to make fun out of it or for the sake of having more points in this YAHOO ANSWERS. it's not good to play with or ridicule the Divinity of God. You might end up reaping what you sow my dear if you are not really true with this...

You have been to Church for a year, come on now, you expect that within that amount of time you will come to believe. What are you doing to believe, it must come from you and not from somebody else.
You must, not only read the Bible, you must learn from it and absorb its meaning. I have read the Lord of the Rings cover to cover and dont believe in Middle Earth.
It is about applying yourself as you would hope God would apply himself in you, and trust me He does so so many times over what ever you will reach.
Good luck and pray, pray, pray. Church and Scripture get you half way there, you need prayer and works, to get teh rest of the way.

There has been no believable proof that he exists. A book that was written thousands of years ago that contradicts itself at every turn is all we have to go on and it appears this is a sham. If God existed, why has he never shown himself conclusively to help mankind in any way? Every possible achievement that has occurred in history is due to man's search for truth by scientific and logical means. Did he show us how to make airplanes so we can fly? No, many people ended up dying due to failed attempts at flight. Did he show us the power of Penicillin before the 20th century? No, millions have died over the centuries for want of a simple cure. If he loves us so much, why has he not helped us at all? Where was he on 9/11 or 7/7? Where was he during the Inquisition? Where was he during the first and second world wars? Where was he during the Korean war, Vietnam war, the wars in the Middle East? You get my point. He is a figment of our imagination.

1. What was the first miracle Jesus performed?
2. Which one of the 12 disciples betrayed Jesus?

I don't mean to insult you but perhaps it isn't the right faith for you. I actually didn't want to say that but if you are just going through the motions without the convictions then I can't see a reason to continue. If you don't feel it you don't feel it. I see is as no more of a disservice than if you were to marry someone you didn't love. Take some time to look around and see if there is something else that appeals to you or perhaps you will find by looking around that you find your faith.

I cannot judge you but I was in your situation. Here is some food for thought:)

Are you living his commandments? Or trying?

Are you praying to find the true church of God?

If God had a church on this earth what would he name it?

Do you believe that there is a true church of God?

I testify to you that I hardly ever felt the holy ghost until I counciled in this church. I swear as God as my witness that it you give this a shot you will recieve some revelation.

Look up the Melchezidic priesthood and Aronic in the Bible. Read about them.

There are only two churchs on this planet that claim to carry the original athority of christ.

The catholic and mormon church. Check both out and pray in the name of christ which one is true

I know the lds church is true and have a confirmation from god.
