We are having an outside wedding at a beautiful mansion with a lovely courtyard. We are having the ceremony in the garden, but I am unsure about the decorations. We are on a very low budget so anything over the top isn't possible. Any suggestions would be great. The wedding will be @ 7:00 pm so candles would not be necessary. HELP!!!!!!!!

I agree with the others. A mansion in the summer in Alabama, it probably could not get any more beautiful. I like the potted flower idea, you can rent those from the florist too, so it would be alot cheaper than buying, but really, you probably dont need it.

Also, remember, your guests will be in those seats for about 30 minutes and for the majority of those 30 minutes they will be focusing on you, not the decor, so as long as you look beautiful(and you will!) there isnt much need for embelishments!

Good luck!!!

I also got married in the garden/courtyard area of a mansion and the surroundings were so beautiful we didn't need any decorations. Actually there were columns and we wrapped tulle around them, which is very inexpensive and can be purchased at a fabric or craft store.

Like everyone else said, don't add anything! It will detract from the natural beauty of the location. The only thing I would do is maybe some sort of potted flowers to mark the aisle path, but you probably won't even need those. When you say "decorations" what exactly do you mean? Like crepe paper and honeycomb wedding bells? Please don't! If there is no altar type area, you could borrow from the Jewish tradition and have a chuppah (a sort of canopy the bride and groom stand under). They can be made from simple poles with tulle, flowers etc. Google them and you will see many beautiful examples.

There are a lot of great ways to decorate that are inexpensive and remember, less is more. Something I have been seeing a lot lately is citrus fruit centerpieces. Very elegant and inexpensive. You can go to thrift stores and find beautiful glass bows and fill them with lemons, limes and oranges and grapefruits. I have also seen little fishbowl vases filled halfway with limes, cut or whole, and then a few gerbera daises which are quite cheap. You then tie a bow with ribbons in your coordinating colors. Since it is outside play up the natural beauty of your surroundings. Perhaps if you are near trees you can hang things from the branches. Paper lanterns would be pretty. If you provided a little more info I could come up with some ideas. Good luck!!

Usually an outside wedding is chosen for the surroundings that lend itself to the wedding decor.
What about using an arch as a focal point?
Michael's will run again their sale (did last week) of their $30 lighted wedding arch for $20. That & 16 yds of Joann's sale 2yds/$1 tulle and you're good to go. If you want to add flowers to the arch you can.

And even at 7 pm, if you want a few candles around, there'd be nothing wrong with that either, just for abiance.

If the physical surroundings are lovely by themselves, why would you want to add to them? Just find a spot (and I'm sure the planners there know the perfect spot) and set the chairs out. If you REALLY want to do something, get some tulle ribbon at a craft/fabric store, and tie bows along the aisle. But I'd let Mother Nature be your decorator here, it sounds like anything you might add would take away from that natural splendor.

I think if you have such beautiful surroundings, you don't need any decorations. Maybe some white lights in areas you want to draw attention to. One nice thing I recently saw at a wedding was a long table with photos of the couple throughout their lives. Parents wedding photo, them growing up, then pictures of them while they were dating. Different sizes and different frames, just arranged on a table. It's a great conversation piece, and it's very homey and welcoming. It sounds beautiful, have a great day!

you really don't need anything - there is a courtyard and a nice mansion as a backdrop. What else could you ask for? Maybe some flower pots scattered around would look nice. Just don't add much of anything - you don't want it tacky.

If it is already a beautiful setting then I would not do any decorations.

Christmas lights wrapped in tulle. It looks very romantic.
