She got in trouble about two weeks ago because she snuck out and and her father went to the party she snuck out to and found her a** drunk. Now just this morning when he went to go check on her she was nowhere to be found. They already reported her phone to the police so they can track her phone calls and who she could possibly be calling. What next?

First of all, by now, I hope that she has been found or has returned home. But if she has her cell phone on her, a lot of cell phone companies have websites where you can see your itemized phone usage. You can also use the old bills to see where most of her calls go to to find the friends to call. Be sure to not only talk to the friends, but the friend's parents as well. The friend's parents are more likely to notify her parents if they see that she has called their childor a strange number comes up on caller ID for their child. But if you can get an up to the hour or so list on line, then that would help track her. I know that one phone company--do not know which one, but it showed where the call originated from and to what city the number called was in. THis can help pinpoint a particular locality of PD to get involved in the search. Filing a runaway petition with the court will have her put before a judge, but not necessarily put in juvenile hall. Of course the way the courts are handled varies from state to state. I am in VA and know how some of these things work. Of course it also depends on the judge and how hard he wants to be on a child. Check with the school as well. A lot of times the principals or guidance counselors can get other kids to admit to plans that they have heard about running away. Many times kids that run will call friends that are at school and talk about where they are or who they are with. My Space is another resource for seeing what plans she may have had if she has a space online. Emails, diaries, letters. Do not be afraid to snoop!! Most children who are not regular runners leave a trail. There is no need to hire a PI at this time. They have done right by calling the police and giving a description. Ask around the neighborhood to see if anyone saw or heard anything. IF children are on foot, they do not usually go far without having a ride somewhere, from friend or stranger. Hope she is found soon.

Go to her school and pass out flyers saying shes a runaway. Dont worry about embarrassing her thats the point! Pass them out everywhere until there are so many she cant avoid them and all the parents know she ran. The parents then wont accept a bogus excuse from her if she tries to stay the night with them. She is at a friends house somewhere-is there a boyfriend? Check his house. Check her best friends houses especially if they have a pool house or somewhere she could be without parents realizing it. Its Friday does she usually go out somewhere like a game or dance at school or somewhere else if so check there she may still go. Tomorrow being Saturday check the mall and see if she is there. Most likely she is at a friends house or at the home of someone a friend knows.

Call her friends and check the parks, that's where I'd go and i'm 12 so we're pretty close. Also check the garage and the backyard in case she's just hiding till her parents blow off some more steam. If she has a boyfriend call there too.

Talk to the parents of all her friends, find out who the boyfriend or exboyfriends are and any people she may have come into contact with at parties. Contact any family in the vicinity that she might run to. I personally would have no qualms about checking her voicemail and searching her room either at this point.

First, when she gets back, explain to her how a "group home" works. Then, explain to her how Juvenile Hall works.
