With the rising crime rates our prisons are filling up very quickley! One question enters my mind when thinking about this... What are we going to do when the prisons are all full? Where will our prisoners go? This is for a school paper and any input would be greatly appreciated!

I always say this about prisons and prisoners: Send them to wars!! They will be more useful to the country that way, less worries in our streets, no tax-money spent on these criminals, prisons will be much better managed with less inmates. What we got to loose by sending them to wars? nothing! if they desert let them run away, they will be a problem for somebody else: your enemy.

The state that I live in ( Alaska ) is in the process of building a prison now to accomodate all of the space needed for inmates, we typically have to ship them off to Arizona prisons, and the crime rate up here is just as bad as any of the lower 48 states and Hawaii, in fact we rate in the top 5 states per capita in crimes committed. It seems that if we just keep building prisons , it defeats the purpose of rehabilitating
the prisoners, most of them are repeat offenders and it seems we would concentrate of making that not happen as much as it does, but I think it will be a long time till we do that.

Aside from trying to get money to build more prisons, they will do what they are currently doing...giving time off for good behavior while in prison. It is not unusual for someone sentenced to 8 years to only serve 3-5 years or someone sentenced to 20 to serve 12 years or less.

They will over max the prison population until they build more, or find somewhere else to put them permanently

The liberal judges in the US legal system are already taking care of this. They have been letting murderers, rapists, child molesters and various other types of violent criminals out on parole for years. They believe, within their addled liberal minds, that to let someone out on his word that he will not murder, rape or molest, is better than to keep him in prison. It is YOUR responsibility to live your life with these monsters on the street. If one attacks you, you are NOT to defend yourself with force or with a weapon because you will make your attacker angry. Your best bet is to try to understand his anger toward you because you had a better upbringing than he did; you spent summers on vacation at the beach while he spent summers in the projects; you have a car to get to a job and he has neither, et cetera. If that fails, then you are to beg him in his towering rage for your life and the lives of your loved ones with you. Good luck...

Decriminalize drugs; or at least leave it up to the individual states to make the choice.

In California, most people want marijuana decriminalized, with fines as opposed to jail sentences.

This would deplete the prison system of at least 50% of the current population...

Hopefully, buy the time that comes, the illegals will be deported to their own country's prisons and there will once again be room for Our own bad people.

In a perfect world we would just execute them. However, in today's politically correct, bleeding heart society we will likely just build more hotels for them.

build more prisons and privatize them, then the prisoners can be put to work for really little money. eventually we can reinstate indentured servitude.
