She's been potty trained for quite a while now and only has accidents at night when she's sleeping. But within the last week, she's started wetting herself in the middle of the day. Today, I had her go potty before her nap, and about 1/2 hr later she had wet herself-but she hadn't even fallen asleep yet. She just laid there and wet herself! She's never done this up until a few days ago. I even took her to the Dr to check for a bladder infection, but he said it's just behavioral. How do I handle this?

DO NOT put her back in diapers! Does she go to daycare? Is she around another baby? At this age, they start to realize that they have control over what they do...she could be testing you. If you think its behaviorial, then dont react when she does it. Calmly take her into the bathroom, place her on the toilet, go through the motions, and change her clothes. If it is behaviorial, she will soon see that she is not getting a reaction out of you and she will eventually stop. Meanwhile, she is only three...some kids just go through phases. I would just give it time. If it continues for more than a couple weeks, or if she seems withdrawn, upset, or in pain, I would go back to the doctor. It may take a lot of patience not to get upset with her, but if you give a reaction, negative or not, you are going to warrant more behavior like this. Good luck!

My daughter is almost 3 and shes potty trained but that happened to me a couple weeks ago where she would just start peeing . But she was getting so bad i had to start putting a diaper on her when we left. I started putting her in the corner with her wet clothes still on and she hated it. But she soon snapped out of it.

Just be patient mom. She will get it. my daughter although potty trained relapse and pooped in her pants like 4 days straight. then stopped. Everytime she did i would act sad at her, id give her a bath and show her the potty, ect. reward and or praise her when she gets it right. they will get it!! my daughter just turned 3 and shes trained, even at night! i started when she was 2 and thought she'd never get it then in like 1 week of earnest trying (meaning no pullups ever)she did!

Your doctor's right - it is behavioral. Institute a “mommy & me” time where you sit down and do something with JUST HER for about 20 minutes a day. And make sure that you really listen to her during this time and have hubby in charge of any other children so that you are not interrupted.

I wouldnt worry right now. Just remind her she is potty trained and needs to use the potty. dont make too big of a deal over it. she is still young.

have her checked for infection, sometimes at this age they like to go back and be babied, it is a phase, try telling her you will buy her some new undies if she doesn't have an accident, try to really make a big deal out of it when she doesn't have an accident let her know how proud she made you.
