If ya' be referrin' to Merced, CA., it's goin' ta' do with what species your lookin' for? Yosemite Lake (Merced) is stocked with Rainbow trout in the colder months of the year (trout need cold water to survive), but has Bass, Crappie, carp and a few cats are year round, Merced River out of Snelling (bout' a 30 min., drive from Merced) stocks trout above Merced Falls, also below Crocker Hoffman facility on Merced River has native Brown Trout as well as Rainbows , but on that portion of river it is strictly BARBLESS hooks because of Salmon run, Lake McSwain and Lake McClure have Bass, Trout, Crappie, Cats, (Snelling). You can call A-1 Tackle shop out of Snelling (209) 563-6505) ask for Diana, or whoever picks up the phone ; ) and they'll give you info., regardin' Merced County, along with what ya' might need in the way of tackle. Also get on your computer and go to California DF&G (Dept., of Fish and Game) and look for planted Trout, that way you'll have an idea as to when they'll be stocking up there. Hey, good luck and I'm shuttin' this down because of typin' cramps...
