I dye my hair with henna and henna only! But my mother tried to use henna over chemically treated hair. It says right on any chemical hair dye instructions that you should not use it if you have hennaed your hair. The color will not take. On the henna product that I use it say to remove henna wash it with boiled mineral oil! Now I've never tried this but I'm sure it must work. DO NOT TRY to dye over the henna...or use henna on already treated hair...this is why your highlights turned out bright orange. My mother had blond hair dye over her whole head and turned it orange by using the henna. Try the mineral oil thing! Well I hope it works!! Good luck!

Okay, the boxes should all say in the instructions ( which none of my clients ever seem to read when they screw up their own hair with box stuff ) not to color over henna or metallic dyes, ( which are the just for men type ones. Coloring over henna can make your hair break off, in fact, a lot of your hair is probably already breaking off, even Loreal's semi's are pretty strong. If you can find a stain, such as Jazzing ( Sally beauty supply carries this ) Manic Panic, etc... that would be the only safe bet. If you have well water, the nightmare is only going to be worse. Your best bet is to see a professional, and expect to pay big bucks, for a corrective color. Red is close to impossible to get rid of to begin with. Henna is not something you want to play around with. You can also expect damaged hair at this point no matter what, but better to be damaged a bit, than fallen off your head I'd say. Make sure you tell your stylist everything you have done to your hair before they begin to try to fix it.

A word of advice: STAY AWAY FROM BOXED COLORS. Let's go through this step-by-step. I want to show you what you did wrong so that you will never, EVER do this to your precious hair again. Problem number one is the fact that you dyed your hair two days in a row. UNLESS you are having it done at a salon to correct something, DO NOT color your hair more often than every 4-6 weeks. Dying your hair three weeks later with the henna is also a big no no. Please, please, please DO NOT try to dye your own hair with the Garnier Nutrisse. You have already dyed your hair three times in three weeks. Your hair is going to be very damaged from this. You need to get yourself to a salon AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. My recommendation is to look for a local Hair Color Experts near you. Yes, it is expensive, but they know what they're doing and they will fix your hair, something you will NOT be able to do on your own. Until you can get to that salon, CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION! Avoid heat styling at all costs. Use a comb instead of a brush to get out tangles while it's wet. You don't want to damage your hair any more than it already is. I hate that this has happened to you, but hopefully you will learn from this! :) (I've had to learn the hard way myself.)

As a professional and accredited henna artist, I have to suggest this to you. If you want your hair brown, mix indigo with the henna that you have. Visit this link: http://www.mehandi.com/shop/hennahairbook/index.html
This site is fabulous, it will tell you EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you want to know about henna. You can also purchase the indigo and henna through this site as well. Using these products will NOT damage your hair. Boxed colors contain harmful chemicals, and unless you used body art quality henna in your hair, you could suffer some serious hair damage. Don't play with chemical colors. Stay natural. You can get any shade of natural haircolor you want with these products. Good luck.

This IS the best thing you can do. Go to a good salon. Tell them what you used. Explain what you want and see what they can do. Henna is very difficult to play with once it has been done and I do NOT recommend a home fix. You'll end up at the salon eventually I can almost guarantee it. Wish you the best in correcting it!

i would see or call a stylist. henna is very hard to color over because it coats the hair so much (like pantene). since you only did it once, your color might turn out ok. if you try a semi or demi permanent first, then it won't damage your hair

If you're not going to go to a hairdresser, then wash rinse, and repeat..and repeat and repeat. A bunch of washings should at least tone down the henna.
