If we are all born with original sin, God must have somehow known that evil might have a slight chance to return, I guess.

Obviously not, or there wouldn't be evil today.

The flood story is cute. It's cute enough to be borrowed from culture to culture.

It's a good morality tale about how you should be good, or you too can be smitten. I get the feeling that this story was invented long before the concept of an omniscient god. If they had the idea of omniscience, then the flood story would never have been incorporated.

But the flood story sounds a lot like other myths. Zeus was angry, so he smote some people. Osiris was angry, so he raised the Nile. And so on. It's a good story, but it's not worth living your life by it.

Evil at that time was silenced for many thousand years after the flood. If you are below your fifties today, maybe you no longer have experienced or heard of a peaceful neighborhood (after the world war II as that kind of war is also some kind of cleansing). In the Philippines and other East Asian countries, we can leave the house for many days unlocked and when we come back., the house is still the same and normally our uninvited guests will be a stray cat or the dusts around. The neighbors greet each other anywhere they cross paths with smile and unless in a hurry they will find time to chat.
Even in the Book Of Revelation, the Battle between Archangel Michael and Satan, the devil will only be tied up or silenced for another thousand years. Meaning evil can never be ended. It will always be like a naturally mischievous child who will be good for as long as the scolding and fear of punishment is still fresh in his memory. Some children learn from the punishemt and stay good till they grow up but the one's who is by nature possess with evil thoughts may forget the pain of punishment and eventually go back to the old habit and this time he could be much worse.
Do not think too much of the original sin, not even if you are a Jew, that has been removed since the time of Exodus. It was not Jesus who had it removed but Moses. Jesus came for the lost sheep of Israel (Matthew 15:24) meaning the Jews have fallen again but no longer from the sins of Adam and Eve but their obstinacies and stubborness to follow the laws of God as written in the Old Testament.
The original sin of Adam and Eve campaign was invented by the Roman Catholic Church and adapted by the other Christian religions because it was an effective way of putting guilt and fear from God so they could easily manipulate your mind to live under their whims. See how many preachers are living in expensive palaces and mansions, enjoying the rides of their lives with expensive cars whose jobs is just to talk and earn from the contributions made by their congregations.
God' wrath whether by flood, natural disasters, wars, plague and famine can only be averted by man's going back to their senses of living in the right way. The Book of Jonah will always be the effective message of God to people on how His curse can be put on hold if not totally stopped. We have had that end of the world syndrome and almost every hundred years we anticipate it and it could have happened a long time ago but God knows that out of the great deceptions the religions have made, there are still a great numbers of GOOD PEOPLE that exist to have HIS wrath on hold.(See how Abraham made bargain with God on saving Sodom and Gommorah) Evil will never end, it can just be silenced and it is up to us to make it happen...www.thename.ph

Well think about it for a minute. If God is all knowing and all powerful then he knew when he caused the flood that evil would not be destroyed. Which would stand to reason that he did not cause the flood to destroy evil but rather just to make a point.

THIS IS AN ANSWER. (Good grief, I have to censor every thing I say!) I would first be curious about "who" created evil. I would wonder why, if God created everything, he created evil. Doesn't sound very "loving" to me. & that awful Satan! How come he has so much power? The snake that tricked Eve. Oh, my goodness. I wonder why the "fruit of knowledge" was so awful? Just give a good think to that one. Flood the earth, rod of iron, lake of fire, eternal hell, suffer forever. I am so very, very sorry. I cannot even begin to comprehend why anyone would live with such FEAR. I would welcome an explanation.

Whilst there is evidence of floods in many places in the world these happened at different times and for different reasons.

Science maintains that the vast majority of the landmass we have today has always been above water.

There is not enough ice and water on earth to put the whole land mass underwater. Only a cataclysmic event could do that and in that event a large percentage of the water would be lost into space and probably take most of the atmosphere with it!!!

It may be deeper than that-

if you have the time, go to "google video", type "chuck missler" into the search bar, then click on "Return of the Nephilim"

It will take 2 hours to watch this presentation. Somewhere in there he addresses this question. This is long but informative-if you can stand it-you will learn something.

I do not believe in original sin.

But, the flood was needed for more reason than to just wipe out evil of the time.

It was also a good means of transporting the entire population for the events pre-ordained to happen in their proper place.

It was necessary to baptize the Earth by water. And it will be necessary to baptize it by fire (IE: the Holy Ghost). That will happen at the end of everything.

God didn't flood the world to end all evil. He was punishing the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

There is seen and unseen. God gives life and He can take it away. I think it is still a good thing that we have a choice.

I chose to be without God and I chose to be with God. With God is better. : )

There was,is,and always will be evil in this world. It is our decision on how we deal with it. That is our conscience!, DEVIL,is LIVED spelled backwards. He was here before the beginning of time,he was the snake that tricked Eve.
