* Plan your strategy for the game, days before the game, if not weeks. (e.g. a birdie for every hole - strategy)
* remember tunnel vision for your focus; go into focus just before you play, i.e. when you are hitting the ball nothing else maters, just you hitting the ball to your chosen destination, once done relax your focus.
* to help you go into the focus mode; say quietly in your mind what your are going to do, over and over again about 4 or 5 times to convince your subconscious mind so that your subconscious and conscious minds are both in sync.
* Most of all be confident and have belief in yourself, you can do it, go ahead and win it

I guess this may work for some but it all sounds a bit complicated and too much for your mind. Just relax and hit the thing. If you are in the 'zone' it will go where you want it to, no effort at all.

Well, point 1 is ridiculous. First, a birdie for every hole would be a goal, not a strategy. The strategy would be how to score a birdie on every hole. By the way, a birdie on every hole would yield a score of 54, the best tour score ever is 59, so you should make your goal a bit more attainable.

Point 2, well yeh, to a degree. Are you playing a game or trying to win a war? I mean, you can get too wound up or "focused" and totally screw up your game, plus you end up being a bore to your playing partner(s).

Point 3, see point 2.

Point 4, well, believing in yourself sounds good, but it's a crock. Of course you believe in yourself, that's easy because you exist. I believe in my toilet, because it exists. What you have to do is believe in your abilities, in this case the ability to play golf. If you are a poor or mediocre golfer, you can believe in yourself all you want, but you're still going to get beat by better players.

The best advice (no disrespect to your father), is to practice as much as possible, take quality golf lessons and build a good golf game. That's something that you can believe in.

He is quite right , you have to remember all that but when you actually play the game you have to forget it and just hit the ball , all the will power in the world wont put that ball in the hole .

Sounds intense. Read the Golfer's Mind by Dr. Bob Rotella. It has the pyschological part of golf, it will help.
