Since they are too lazy to go to the basement where their food and water is, they often drink from the dog's bowl. Can they tranfer bad germs to the dog's bowl this way?

If they are living together they are going to share germs anyway. I had a dog and cat at the same time. They were in each other's water and food bowls constantly. They were fine! :)

I have 3 dogs and 4 cats and everyone drinks from the same bowls (the dogs' is upstairs, the cats' is down) and have not had any problems. Just make sure you change the water daily. Mine needs filling a couple of times a day.

i wouldnt worry about it but it could be a problem if the dog had or has worms or some sickness because then the water would be contaminated, so every time you see the cat doing this, spray them with water, it wont hurt them but it will make them run, so eventually they will figure out that they get sprayed everytime they go near the dogs bowl, (make sure they cat dosent see you spray them, or the kitty might not like you)

No, unless your dogs have worms or a parasite, then it is fine. but i suggest that you place dishes for the cats around the house as they can be picky about there water. You can place them in higher up places the dogs can't get to.

They all live in the same house and are members of the same family.Do you and yours drink after each other? It want hurt anything.The dog eating the cat poo will cause worm infestations but that's about as bad as it gets.

naaa....my cat always drank form my dogs water bowel and nothing ever happend....he was to lazy to just jump on the counter some days.....

If your animals are all vaccinated and up to date on all their necessary shots/worming etc. shouldn't be any problem.
