Circular Quay, Great Hunter, Street Sense, Scat Daddy

I liked Nobiz until the Fountain of Youth when he swung out wide around the first turn. There's no doubt he's a good horse and he's really fast. And maybe they can fix that problem before the Derby. But if he runs the same race as the FoY, I don't think he can win.

Street Sense... There's some really good and some bad with this horse. He has run very well in all the races I've seen. But he's only raced once this year and traditionally the lightly raced horses don't do as well... but I think Barbaro showed us that the lighter trained horses can be just as good as the others. Also, he won the Breeders Juvenile which is great, but no BC Juvenile winner has ever won the Derby. And he just had that tough run against Any Given Saturday... that's either good as a test for Street Sense or bad because it might screw him up... the last tough battle between 2 horses on the road to the roses was in 2004 (i think) and the 2 horses didn't win their next races (I think the one didn't win the next 2 and the other didn't win the next 7 or something like that)... so it's hard to tell about Street Sense, but I like him so far.

I wasn't sure about Circular Quay because I only saw him race his most recent race where he didn't race anyone special. He won easily, but he should win easily against that field. He ran against Notional in the race before, but got caught behind the rider who fell, so he didn't have a real chance to win. Then I realized that he's the son of Thunder Gulch, so I decided I like him ;o)

I can't really say why I like Great Hunter, but I do. He needs to race against someone good, but I like him so far.

Notional is good too.

Scat Daddy raced the Holy Bull against Nobiz and came in 3rd. He ran strong and didn't lose by that much. Then he beat Nobiz and Stormello in the Fountain of Youth. He won twice and placed once last year. I feel like he hasn't gotten enough notice for a horse who has won 3 races, twice against Nobiz and had a place and show.

A lot of people really like Stormello, but he faded after leading the Fountain of Youth. He needs to get stronger if he's gonna lead and win at a mile and a quarter after fading at 9 furlongs.

Any Given Saturday looks pretty good after his battle with Street Sense.

And Cobalt Blue and Curlin raced well last weekend.

I'm sure I've forgotten someone... I always do. But those are the ones that come to mind for the Derby.

I like Notional, but with up to 20 horses in the Derby, post position will be a major factor.

Yup!! Nobiz is my favorite pick! I also am keeping and eye out for Circular Quay, Hard Spun, Curlin (so far undefeated in only 2 races:o), and maybe Stormello.
