Now, hes old enough. Use puppy shampoo and dont get any in his eyes!

The sooner they learn to like water the better.

Should be fine now. Just keep the water warm, have a couple of towels ready, and a hair dryer.

My sister's puppy was 8 weeks old when we brought Chelsea home. We took her to the backyard (this is a cool January) to go potty. After she was done, my sister wanted to issue her back into the house, so she stood by the back door and called Chelsea. Lickety split ! Toward my sister she ran - unfortunately, there was a pool in between sis and the puppy, and you can guess what happened!
In the pool she went! And she began paddling away, more surprised than scared. My brother in law immediately scooped her out of the pool, and in the house we ran to give her her first warm bath. Puppy was fine!

Baptism by pool on her first day at 8 weeks old!

I usually start bathing mine around 6 or 8 weeks.

To this day my dog hates getting a bath but after it's over she gets a doggie treat. Also I will play with her a few minutes and sometimes take her bye bye after the bath. This way she dosen't mind it so much. Of course I still get the attitude and dirty looks but when it's all over the tail springs right back up as though it never happend! :-) Good luck with the puppy.

You can bathe him now if you want, just make sure you use a shampoo made specifically for puppies and only bathe him once a month since puppies skin is very delicate and sensitive. Also when you do bathe him, make sure you rinse off ALL the shampoo to prevent skin irritation.

It depends on the breed of dog. My miniature dachshunds were tiny little guys at 10 weeks, and they were extremely delicate. My sister's great dane, however, was about the size of a linebacker by that time. Also, it depends on the personality of the dog, too. Of my two dachshunds, one can't stand water, and he was terrified of the bath as a puppy. The other one is a little water fiend, and he'd probably be happier as an alligator.

I have two almost 5 month old puppies and I think we gave them there first bath when they were 2-3 months! The Vet's say that you should wait 5 months and lots of places (like Petsmart) that do grooming won't do it unless they're 5 months!

Now would be a good time.. plus if he isnt that dirty then u should worry about it too much. He is still after all, just a puppy!

I have all ways givin my puppies a bath when they were young so that when they get older they don't mind it. Just make sure you use puppy shampoo but you probably already know that!!
Good luck with your new puppy

It tells on the back of the puppy shampoo bottle, but I think it tells you 10 weeks so you should be good to go.
