why do they give me a weird look? These are the regular people I meet at the gym.

I don't have any friends, so I drink about 2 nights per week at home. I can't socialize well, so I get a drunk.

I don't want to tell them I have no friends, because I don't wanna make them feel guilty.

Why do they give me a weird look? What's wrong with drinking alone?

nothing about drinking alone, i would rather drink alone and have the quiet and enjoy a good glass of wine or scotch then listen to the babbling of some nitwit all idiot, and how much you drink is your business if the reaction you get is unwanted then don't get personal with your private life, as long as your not getting stoned and running into the streets naked screaming," locust " run for your lives,
then there is nothing to worry about,
don't let others dictate your lifestyle

Most people who drink, drink when they go out with others, and drinking alone to get drunk sounds like you are suffering from social anxiety disorder and are drinking to curb your lonliness. You are on your way to becoming an alcoholic and this is not good.

There are treatments for social disorders and you need to find something you like to do besides drinking and do that. It doesn't have to be in a crowd. Go to a library maybe where people won't bother you but you can get use to being in public. Everyone needs at least one good friend and if you look close enough you will find some that are feeling the same way you are.

Read these links and they might help. You should really talk to a doctor about whatever the real problem could be and let him/her help you. The information I gave you doesn't mean anything unless you check with a doctor first, it could be anything else as well.

How much do you drink when you drink alone?

Does your drinking get in the way of other activities?

If you drink to get drunk you ought to consider stopping if you want relationships.

1st drinking and getting drunk alone is a sign you want to escape something or someone. 2nd it is sign of alcoholism.

the 2 are intertwined. If you drink to excess, and make lapses in judgement (ie drive drunk) the legal system will do something about it. If you avoid drinking in public so you don't get busted for another DUI, you are avoiding the social consequences of drinking in public but not the consequences of an inability to get and maintain healthy relationships.

I drank alone for most of my drinking career, I say career because it became a job. 2 days turn into 3, then 4 then 5, and then 7. Eventually your only friend is your beverage.

Also eventually your body starts doing things that are reactions to alcohol. It takes more booze to get the same effect. Tolerance, liver damage, korsahoff syndrone (alcoholic dementia). are can happen if "you drink as I did".

Drinking alone is the 1st sign you have an addiction to the chemical. You don't want to share the drink with people and you want to be in your own cocoon so people leave you alone to drink your self into oblivion.

Welcome to Alcoholism. There is an AA club near you. (IF you want to stop)_

They look at you like that because that is a sign of alcoholism. There is danger in drinking "because" you have no friends to spend your time with. I too have social anxiety and it has plagued me all my adult life. I did become an alcoholic for many years until it almost killed me. I dont drink very often anymore because of it. Its a dangerous road to stroll on. Be careful and try to find something else to do when you are alone. God bless you.

they either jeleous or they might think to themselves " damn , why i never think of that" hahahaha I drink alone at home, why you need someone around you to have a drink with or to get drunk with, you only get on their nerves anyways and it's cheaper to drink alone and at home hahahahaha, i am a cheap one maybe, but it's safe, and cheap. don't worry about it girl, have your drink on and enjoy.

cheers

nothing is wrong with it, people just assume that you are an alcoholic.
