I am reading a book right now that hypothesizes that religion has held mankind back in such a way that it is highly possible that we would have been at the point of technology that we are at now, back in the 1600's. I think it is quite possible that this is so. What do you think about this and where do you think we would be now, in technological terms if that were the case? (the book is called 'End of Faith' by Sam Harris.

Jeancommunicates: where is the proof that God controls this world? There is no conclusive proof whatsoever. All we have to go on is a book written thousands of years ago that contradicts itself at every turn.

Daizy: that is the problem: you DO impose your beliefs on us. Simple example: George W Bush vetoed the embryonic stem cell research funding due to religious beliefs. This is an imposition of a belief system based in religion.
